I am sure I read on Mac Rumours future AirPods firmware would have released notes stating what’s new

I think we all knew in our hearts that the only thing those release notes would ever say is ”bug fixes and performance improvements” or, more likely, nothing at all.

Apple doesn’t have to follow its own rules.

Didn't they say at one point that the personalized spatial audio would require a firmware update to work with the Pro 2s? Could that be this?

If that were the case, I would have thought they would have already released the beta firmware that is out for the original Pros and the Max since it's already supported in iOS 16. I originally thought a firmware update was required as well though.

Is 5A377 only for APP 2nd gen? The release notes (direct from Settings) indicate that 4E71 is the current version for 1st gen, with a "Published Date" of today.
They have a beta one out for the 1st gen and Max that is between 4E71 and 5A377, so I was wondering that myself.

AirPod Pros are great for voice, calls, podcasts etc. but NOT music. There are so many great true wireless earbuds out there better for music. The Sennheiser Momentum 3 True Wireless being one of them
I see this argument all the time. And it’s true but no 3rd party accessory integrates onto the Apple ecosystem, period.

How do you know when none of us have listened to them yet?

I've just got the gen 2 and it says "set up not finished" and disallow me to use Find My and some settings are greyed out. I'm not sure what's the problem.
It comes with the original firmware as stated in this article.

Remember when Airpods pro(1) launched it had a great ANC and went to .... after a update ? Forget about updating

The review consensus seems to be the APP2 are better than most except the soon to be released Bose QC2 which are a marginally better but same price and not as well integrated into the ecosystem. So if you have an iPhone the APP2 are best choice.

I had the MTWs 1, now the 2 for the the last 2 years and I can verify that. But the fit, weight, lower volume, trash call quality, laughable ANC and horrible transparency mode, makes the MTW’s a niche product.
I love the music quality but I literally sacrificed everything else for that. In my opinion, the difference in music quality between them doesn’t justify the inconvenience with the MTWs. Not in the slightest.

As a massive Sennheiser fanboy (I've got wired IE's from them that I run on many fantastic DACs as well as my $3000 setup shown below) I'd have to say the AirPods Pro 2 sound really really very good and balanced and up there with my wired IEs. I'd have no problem recommending these to anyone.
