Hoping it fixes the high pitched squeal they make when I'm grabbing them off of a desk and they get too close together while I'm grabbing the case to put them in.
I prefer it when those sounds are there. It's likely due to increased gain on the active noise cancellation (ANC) microphones. Better noise suppression usually comes with that audible byproduct.

Has there ever been a firmware upgrade to the original Airpod Pro? I have had issues with mine since I bought them when they first came out. if I apply any pressure to the left pod (like leaning my head against a pillow) it squals like a pig. Has anyone else had this issue?

Make sure your listening modes are off (transparency, noise cancellation etc). I noticed that when a mode is active and I lean that pod against something (even soft items like a pillow or if my head is inside a cloth hood) it makes a crackling grinding sound.

As far as I know ALL iPhone 17 Pro (Max) have it. the noise emits from the bottom speaker when it is charging. It is most noticeable when its plugged in with USBC and above 80% or 100% charge and you use any intensive app (for example scrolling through Instagram feed) or even without you will hear it. Sometimes its loud sometimes not.

Try it and place your ear to it.

Pretty sure all of have it.

Whats yours?
I am still using a 14 PM but her 17 Pro is brand new. I’ll have her plug it in tomorrow and double-check. This is interesting.

Lots of forum post and even a CNET article about it. Even on first page of the iPhone Macrumors forum.

I'd go further than that. I want one central location where I can view every Apple device on my account with the ability to update them all instead of going to each device. That includes things like the Apple TV, AirPods, or even the Apple Pencil.

Something sort of like this would be nice, it would be a massive quality of life improvement.
That’s way too big thinking. We’ve got products we can’t even manually update right now. We gotta cross that bridge first 🤣

Yes that would be great. They need to at least start with all apple TV’s and HomePods in the Home app.

Doesn't Home do that?

The update process is stupid, what happens if you don't know that it is updating and you somehow interrupt it?
I would think that the actual firmware upgrade (as opposed to the download) is quite quick, and it happens when you're not using the AirPods. And maybe if you try to use them when it's upgrading they will not work.

But I'm just wildly guessing.

iPhone 17 Pro here.

I hear a very faint tick-tick-tick when the charge is above 80 maybe 85%, with a Belkin 25W wireless charger.
It's not that annoying, honestly, and I couldn't even say whether it was coming from the phone or the charger itself.

Apple can't handle this much of innovation.

wireless charger causes the smallest form of the sound. wired is louder.

Oh thank goodness for that, as long as it's true. It's the cymbals on rock and indie music (and other stuff) that just kills it for me. Every cymbal strike just sounds like a blast of white noise that sounds so artificial and distracting and drowns out so much other stuff. If they sort that out, and to a lesser extent some exaggerated sibilance on some vocals, I'll be 100% happy with my AirPod Pro 3s.

This is also important for the sound signature:

Would have been good if we knew exactly what each firmware update does. For now, I think it is related to bug fixes.
It could be. Or perhaps finally adding live translation that was initially blocked in the EU (like some other iP features in the past).

My AirPods Pro 2 are now updated to 8B28, but the case has 80.1.28!?️

What number should the case currently have?

PS:
Do you have any experiences with what was changed with the AirPods Pro 2 with the firmware update?
