For me the connectivity has improved. With previous firmware, I tried listening music with my Garmin Fenix 6S. It would connect and start playing, but very quickly (under one minute) either right or left channel would go quiet, and then eventually all music would stop. Fenix shows APP2 are connected, but no sound.

With new firmware, I have no such issues with Fenix, I have now played several hours without any audio drops 👍

For me, ANC sounds the same.

The big thing for me is that my AP2 haven't disconnected from my Mac all day. They would pretty regularly disconnect and seemed like "reboot". I actually came looking to see if an update had happened because it was so noteworthy to me!

Interesting note, I took a call from my wife today at the store and she couldn’t tell when I switched to my Airpods in the middle of the call. Makes me wonder if maybe they improved the background noise being let in.

On that note, I wish they let you control voice isolation settings in standard calls. Using voice isolation in other apps is pretty incredible. I was using it through the playstation app to chat while in game with my brother and my kids were literally screaming in the same room and he could only hear me.

People who have problems with imbalance watch this video as he explains why. At the 12.30 mark or u can watch the Video as he explains some good points.

And also Apple anc some Good points on how to improve on it as I feel the same.

Just checked, APP2

It's incredibly difficult to get readings that really mean anything as in my experience dB measurements jump around all over the place constantly. Besides, it's incredibly subjective. You may have an extremely irritating noise which really bothers you and registers hardly at all or one which is supposed to be quite loud which you don't even notice. Even wind blowing can give really high readings but it's actually almost silent.
Changing the algorithm to cancel different frequencies could make it more effective but still leave more of some noise coming through.
And 22dB is enormous. 6dB more is twice the volume but 3dB seems like twice the volume. So subjective you see.
I appreciate it's a good try but the reality is everyone is going to have different perceptions about what is better or worse and some of it will be down to their own hearing. Even concentrating and listening to see if the NC is better will give you a different perception from when you are just listening.

Will this fix the horrendous background noise when using these for phone calls? Everyone complains that they can barely hear me talking but can hear everything else extremely loud instead. Also had this issue on the first gens.
I agree the 1st gen was better for calls. But one setting which really helps is to turn on the “voice isolation” vs “wide spectrum” on the drop down settings Page when In a call

As far as I know that isn't an option in a standard call. Only apps like Facetime, Skype etc.

Noice cancellation still seems excellent to me. What I'm disappointed with with the APP2's is the transparency mode, before and after this update. Ambient sound seems much louder than on my original APP's, as if some baseline noise from my environment is amplified. It makes me use full noice cancellation more, but I'd prefer transparency on the streets of NYC for example.

Even after update I still get random disconnects. Never happened with previous version. Sucks to be honest. Otherwise love the product.

You can adjust that in audio accessibility settings / Headphone Accommodations.
You can adjust background noise in transparency mode and even import an audiogram and have music/calls/transparency fully adjusted to your hearing.

Ah yes! Thanks. Forgot all about that!
