Mine updated as soon as i restarted my iphone, and opened them up. Note - this wae the same for the magsafe charger the other week

Nice to hear. How did you update your APP’s?
The easiest way to do it is to plug the APP case directly into a Mac or iPad using a USB to Lightning cable. Make sure the computer is connected to the internet, then open the APP case to permit it to connect to your iPhone via Bluetooth. The firmware should update in a few minutes. You can check by going into Settings and at the top you should see a tab for the APP settings. Tap that and scroll down to the case information where you can see the Firmware version.

I did this with both my APP2 and Powerbeats Pros and they were both updated to their respective new firmwares in about 5 minutes.

Many thanks for the detailed reply. I really appreciate it!

Same issue for me, iPhone 14 pro max.
Also I am not able to update these AirPods.

I'll fill an issue today itself for a replacement to apple
Well, so far so good for calls. They didn’t fix the extremely loud notifications though. What good is adaptive transparency or the volume warnings when they blast full volume notifications directly into your ear drums?

They have updated without connecting to a power source. Just using it.
The ANC seems to be worse, so angry for this. F***!!!!!!!!!

The watch measure an average of 20/22db noise reduction with ANC on.

Before update it was something more.

do you think the sound stage has changed I think maybe the highs are better

Someone with the old version can measure how much DB the ANC cuts? My watch says 20/22. Before i remember it was something more.

Any evidences??

The ANC sounds severely worse imo

Edit: for some unknown reason they have gone back to normal, and no they where not on transparency.

For those that feel the ANC is worse— make sure you aren’t set on Adaptive Transparency. The old Adaptive Transparency was very obvious, due to its overly-bright highs. But the new Adaptive Transparency is so quiet you might not even notice it’s on when no one is talking.

I used them for 3 hours last night, and all seems correct Via my tv.

Sidenote: I have the optional hearing protection mode/option on, limiting max db to x, to protect my hearing, maybe some of you might have forgotten you set this up—-> not very loud explanation?

Lastly, anc kicked off for some reason last week, I removed and re-attached my ear insert and it immediately fixed the issue. Weird but it worked.

I want the old ANC back. They decreased the efficiency of it.
I can literally hear my roommate's words while using ANC.

So you all happy now with the new firmware only charges these at 80%. I mean I take mine off charge and use them every day at 6am before work. And now they say they will fully charge at 9pm. What the hells the point in that so they’re not even fully charged in the mornings anymore.

Is this really how the AirPods supposed to charge was the first versions like that ? This means u no longer get 6 hours playback

Also ANC seems the same to me. No worse or no better

How are you all checking noise reduction levels , I can’t see anything on my watch outside of the noise level checker

Are you suggesting to turn off adaptive transparency? Can’t understand

Why some people says the anc is the same? It technically not possible if it’s software related. I’m wondering if ask for a replacement may help but probably it doesn’t worth.

just spoke with apple. Currently they don't know anything about the decrease of ANC. They can do a swap, nothing else. I think that a swap is useless.

When they are connected to your iphone go to settings and turn OFF “optimized battery charging”. That’ll sort the 80 percent charging issue.

Is changing volume with swipe gesture working for you guys ? It seems to stop working after fw update for me.

It is supposed to learn your behavior and charge full around when it will be most needed. I do wish there was something like a super battery saver option that never allows a charge over 80%. I would use that pretty much all the time to preserve the battery unless I was going to be traveling. 4.8 hours would be plenty for me most days

Tested again via watch. It cuts 22db. Anyone with older firmware can make a comparison please?

In some old review of original AirPods Pro 1 they cutted 35db!!
