"Bug fixes and other improvements". Apple has now become lazy just like devs that don't let us know what they changed/why we should update to the latest app releases (Spotify, I am referring to you)
6A301 on my AirPods Pro 2 (with Lightning case) has been a mixed experience for me.

I like the new features but at the expensive of occasional connection instability and audio drop outs.

Hopefully, 6A303 actually addresses bug fixes and other improvements. But seriously, Apple should mention exactly that -- that it improves connection stability and audio drop outs.

Side note: I hate the name for this, how in the hell do you abbreviate it. ANC is on most noise cancelling headphones but this "Adaptive" mode for Airpods Pro 2 is NOT the same thing as Adaptive Noise Cancelling. It's called "Noise Control Adaptive" but NCA seems ...stupid and looks like you're making a typo. Mild gripe, but still.
I think of Active Noise Cancelling as a component of this new Adaptive mode. It might more generically be called "smart ANC" or some such.

I know some other brands of headphones (Bose? Sony?) let you manually adjust ANC, but having it kick in only when needed is a killer feature. And yeah, I wish these had been available all these years I've been in NYC because I bet it would have saved my ears a bit over time.

I have 2nd gen usb-c and am running 6A300. So can confirm that it’s possible.

I have USB-C and it shipped with 6A300. It is still on that firmware.

According to Apple's article on latest firmware, 6A301 is for the Lightning version.

Both Lightning and USB-C should be updated to 6A303 today. Still waiting.

With the 6A303 firmware, as with all prior versions used, custom Headphone Accommodations at least as applied to the enhancement of Transparency mode still spontaneously reset themselves after a short while (despite not looking like they're reset) and require re-customizing so they'll work again for another short while. Yes, I have "Personalized Volume", "Conversation Awareness", and "Loud Sound Reduction" all disabled. Customized Transparency mode is very helpful for the hearing impaired.

Still on 6A300, which is not even the 6A301 release from September. So clearly we need a tool to manually push these updates because if Apple's proposed automatic/background updating worked, I wouldn't be on 6A300 still (which is from Idk when)
keep in mind this update is for 2nd gen pros not 2nd gen airpods
AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C): 6A303
AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (Lightning): 6A303
AirPods Pro (1st generation): 6A300
AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation): 6A300

Which is interesting.. my 2nd gen Airpod Pros just had the case firmware update to 60.82.0, while the firmware for the actual airpods pro is still at 6A301.. I have A2698s..

Still on 6A301 and case is 54.26.1. I have my case opened and close to my iPhone. But it's been well over an hour and no update. So frustrating.

If anyone has a faster way to update the firmware, I'm all ears! 👂(OK, that was bad) Do you leave the case opened or closed?

I don't think there is any faster way to update the firmware, but I believe the AirBuddy app (link here) at least notifies you when your AirPods have a firmware update for it. So, you may want to check it out.

Two hours later, the firmware updates.. it’s weird that the case firmware updated faster than the actual AirPods..

I did the: plug everything in, open the AirPods Pro case, dismiss the dialog, close the case for 10 minutes, open the case, check for the update, dance about 5 times before they updated.

Question: I bought AirPods Pro 2 but in its settings under Model Name it says: AirPods Pro --no mention of 2. Is that normal? Bought at Best Buy with Apple+ Care, if that matters.

Model is: A2698

I have the USB-C AirPods Pro 2 and mine also have the model as AirPods Pro.
