ive just placed my order. tis a long and complicated story... with a funny twist too. but im busy writing something for another site i visit and my finger bandwidth is almost full.

but yea. 6Gb Blue mini 'tis on its sweet way. well it will be. and i flogged my 3G iPod to my girlfriend, and my old N64 too... so for an entire week im stuck with my Sony MZ-R91 minidisc player which is kinda cool really. same colour as a blue mini :)

what sold it for me? THE GOD AMAZING BATTERY LIFE! wow... 26 hours is a lot. but with my style of playing it'd probably be down to the apple-stated 18 hours. still, 10 hours more than my old model. and ive got a spare iPod-Firewire cable too.

cheers steve *champagne toast*

Ok, I have been waiting on purchasing an ipod for a while now. I have tried many music players way back to the diamond rio 300. I have been wanting the iPod Photo but the $599 price tag was too much. With the release of the new ipods and price drops it seems like now was the time. I went to best buy tonight and they had the 60GB iPod photo there for $479. Its the old one with the dock, charger, and firewire cable. I figured the extra stuff was worth the $30 so I got it. Getting it from best buy was good because I have a 14 day return policy if I don't like it which is very nice.

Got it home and opened it up. Here are pics of my Opening Party:

First impressions are always the same with apple products. WOW! Apple packages everything with such class. The 60GB is a little thicker than I would like it but I will sacrifice for the larger hard disk.

Everything about the 60GB is nice from the desktop cradle to the unit itself.

Things I like:
1. Smooth feel of quality.
2. Full load of cables and accessories.
3. Love the carry case.
4. Comes with AV Cables.
5. Dock is nice.
6. Large Capacity. Great backup drive.
7. iSync for appts. This is great.
8. Color is a must. My wife has the iPod mini 4gb and I hate the screen.
9. Back of iPod makes a good mirror for fixing hair, adjusting hat etc. :)

Things I don't like:
1. Screen isn't as crisp as I would like it.
2. Can't drag photos and music to the device and play them without using iTunes and iPhoto.
3. No FM radio or recording functions.

So overall its nice and I like it. I would highly recommend getting the closeout ipod photos before they are gone as you get way more for your money. There are still plenty in stock. I would recommend macmall as you don't pay sales tax.

Enjoy the pics.
MacTruck I couldnt agree with you more! I stopped by the Apple Store last night to check out the iPods since I have been waiting since Xmas to pick one up. So the excellent CSR tells me he has some of the older box versions in the back that have all the goodies they took out with the new packaging...and its only $30 more. Thats a damn good deal...My educational discount got me out the door for $449 plus tax and applecare coverage too. Im soo happy to finally have an iPod and it really made my day to not have to buy the extra cable and dock. So, if any of you are planning on buying directly from an Apple store ask if they have the older 60GB in the back and you too may be as lucky as I am! Now I just need to pick up the Alpine AI-net unit and all will be smooth sailing!
Peace
Dave

thats total bs i always listen to my ipod at night and dont have a computer close by so i need the ac adapter apples just being cheap
That's why the iPod comes with a built-in battery. Eighteen hour battery life (conservative, according to some) ought to get through the night just fine.
