Sigh... as I said previously, no matter how advanced the fingerprint device may be, it is no use if you leave your data in unencrypted, clear form.
bottom line: unless you are part of the 0.4% of the US population living in baltimore or DC, if you are careful about your laptop, it's very unlikely to get stolen.
Is Bethesda safe? I should I keep moving west?![]()
Great not even two weeks after the MacBook Pro get updated and Nvidia launches the 8700M GT. Well it looks like we know what GPU is going in the updated iMac....
The 8700M is only going in big 17" notebooks anyway (the Toshiba WXW that was just announced is almost 9 pounds and 2 inches thick). The 8600M GT is going to remain pretty much the cream of the crop as far as 15" notebook GPU's go for a while.
Indeed. One of my friends lives in DC (and in a high crime part of DC, no less), has plenty of computer equipment and music gear, and has never had anything stolen.
Your friend is lucky and/or vigilant. I lived more towards downtown DC (crime was there but it wasn't bad), and it's not like you could just leave things laying around or leave your car unlocked.
All kinda of OT.
My friend/co-worker left his Neon at the Anacostia Metro station unlocked with the keys in it over night and it was still there the next day. Odd, but honestly true...
Now THAT is lucky. Maybe people thought it was a setup by police.
My disk results were quite low (26.97) on my 2.4 MBP, and I'm not sure why. Perhaps Spotlight was indexing the drive? I had just completed the Migration Assistant. I'll run again later and see if my results change.
