Apple can come out with whatever costs them the least, charge whatever they want, and the Mac base will still buy it. Don't think for a second they don't know this.

You are correct...

Huh... old technology at new technology prices! It has the Apple logo on it! Sweet! :D here's my $2000!

Is that a PC with twice the power as my MacBook Pro?

Yup!

Why do you need so much power?

Virus software, spyware, spamware, underware, and this crap software called Vista.

Wow sucks to be you.

i just called the apple store... i was all "the apple store online is down, but i'd like to order the new Macbook Pro that was released today"... he was all "oh, i don't know anything about that"...

*click*

so much for my investigative reporting...

WOW, big YAWN.

While all the other manufacturers put out their santa rosa based laptops, Apple in true Apple style drips out a minor speed bump in their overpriced budget laptops.

They name the imagefile (all the books in the same image) family_lineup20070515.png so I dont see why they should change that picture once more to accomodate new MBP specs a few minutes later. New MBPs will surface june 15th.

Yes, okay. But it doesn't say, 15 inch" MBP with a 2.33 ghz C2D.

It only tells 15 inch" MBP, and as I said before. Big chance they only will update the processor and amount of RAM. Because its an update, not a new model release.. So the looks remain the same.

And besides that, what keeps them from updating the image another time. Nobody will cry about that, it's just uploading new image and *poof* there it is...

For some reason i feel like the macbook pros will be announced very soon.... If we look @ the black macbook comes very close to the macbook pro (storage/speed) The gfx bump and 2" larger screen cant justify €500 euro difference.

Some people have a difficult time understanding the separation line between the MacBook line and the MacBook Pro line.

The MacBook is the base model laptop Apple designs/sells.
The MacBook Pro is the premier model laptop Apple designs/sells.

Just as Chevrolet doesn't include the same features in a Aveo that they include in a Corvette, Apple doesn't include the same features in the MacBook that they include in the MacBook Pro.

For $1100, the base model MacBook is still a very nice deal. It comes with a good processor. It comes with a good quantity of memory. And it comes with the best operating system money can buy. If you were thinking about buying a MacBook yesterday, I can't imagine why your choice would be any different today. It is the exact same machine- with better specs than it had 24 hours ago.

And-- since the apple store is still down, as of 8:45 Central time, I suppose its possible there will be other updates, but I wouldn't expect them.

The WWDC is only a month away. No doubt Jobs will be introducing some new products at it.

KingofAwesome, you are intentionally misreading the comments. Manic Mouse said no such thing as expecting the MacBook to be the fastest possible system. S/he merely stated that there are certain updates, such as the new graphics chip, that would be expected especially considering how poorly the current integrated graphics chip has been performing.

If you would pay attention, many of the people who are disappointed did not expect to have the MacBook come in a tricked-out SR platform (although many would have liked a lower-end SR MB), they (and me) merely expected the problem areas (especially the GPU) to be addressed in this update.

Please, don't create straw man arguments to knock down. If you want to argue with someone, actually address the issues that the person brought up.

If I'm misinterpreting, then fine, but don't tell me I'm intentionally misreading it. I'm actually intentionally reading and interpreting an irrational rant, and then responding.

I took Manic's comments to mean he wants Santa Rosa because that is the fastest processor available for laptops at the moment and they were just released very recently. To me, that would mean that he wants the latest and greatest in a company's one and only consumer line of laptops.

When I read an irrational rant, I respond to what I see as the root cause. If you'd like to call that "creating straw man arguments" then that's your choice, but I had no such intentions.

Hi Mark88. How are you doing?? Please read below. Thanks.

I just bought the Macbook on April 27 (2.0ghz, 1gb RAM version)

DO you all think the Apple store will let me exchange it for the new one?

I love it when the youngsters come out and trash business decisions made by guys and gals running a company whose stock chart looks like this:

Arrogance is the number one killer of companies.

man... i'm so dissapointed of the Macbook update... i'm one of those who waiting for the Santa Rosa to be put in with Macbook!... i had waited since last year... and this is what apple gave us... :(

upgrade in processor speed and ram but still stick with GMA 950 ?!

GMA 950 suck.... c'mon apple... :(

Correct myself, saw the other image posted in the forum.. Thought you were talking bout another image.

Well then, you right for the models in de picturs. But remember uploading a new picture with new cpu rates isn't that hard for a company that makes products like this...

Great update! For MB owners!

For me, it is a great update.

I already have a 2.0ghz MB C2D with 2gb of ram and a superdrive.

SO, it is a good update for me because:

1. I'm not feeling bad my MB is a gen behind and I'm missing out on having a new MB with new things because... there are none! Other than .16ghz... oh man I wish I had .16ghz more... :(

2. Re-sale value of my MB barely moved at all. So it is still worth a fair bit! Now I can keep waiting for a MBP with all the new bells and whistles, and when it does come out I can sell my MB and take a sweet MBP! NICE!

So for current MB C2D owners this update is good news for them :) For people looking to buy a MB it is still alright. For people waiting for more bells and whistles in the MB, this updates sucks.

The Stig
