brilliant, my PB has departed from Luxembourg and that was 2 days ago.

anyone else having problems tracking with TNT?

I think TNT doesn't pick it up until it reaches Eindhoven, the Netherlands (where Apple seems to have a distribution hub). A different company ships from the factory to Eindhoven (don't remember the name of the company, but I remember there is a website somewhere to track your package that part of the way) before TNT picks it up and registers it in their system. I had my iBook sitting in Luxembourg for days getting through customs before it came to Eindhoven and TNT picked it up!

I think in your case, regardless of Luxembourg being closer to England, it will still go to Eindhoven first. But let me know if I'm wrong!

Its coming.

hi all. i have been looking around the forum since aug intrested in a pb. i have waited forever passing up cram & jam and losing sleep over every little rumor. at times i really didnt think i would make it to the update. This site has been great and i have learned a great deal. thanks guys and gals. i decided to join the forum the day i bought my pb as a nice anniversary.

my new 12" 100GB SD PB was ordered on the 31st at 8:30am Central time and i to was going nuts watching UPS update the tracker. Excited it was shipped on the 1st, nervous it was sitting in China for 4 days but today at 3:54AM this morning its on a truck out for delivery :D This is going to be my first Mac. Luckliy today I'm working a half day and UPS doesnt show its head until late afternoon. Why am i at the end of the route? Today i will be joining my dog at the front window watching the front lawn grow.

shipping...

It seens rather odd that everyone's having delays in shanghai. Over the weekend my 15" PB made it from shanghai to memphis TN, (Final destination: Chattanooga TN)

OK, just ordered a 17" Godzillabook. Come to Daddy!
Looking like a much shorter delivery time than the 15 inchers, which I almost plumped for. Anyone received a 17" yet?

I'm still waiting on my 15" BTO to change status from "Open" to "Closed". I ordered first thing, the 31st. I've checked so many damn times...

Yeah yeah, whine, bitch, whine, bitch. I JUST WANT MY CANDY!! :D

Ge a Refund if you recently bought a powerbook before the update.

If you bought a powerbook within a week or so of the update, you can get the discount on your new powerbook. I just got a 15 inch super 0n the 19th, and got a $400 refund as the guys at the apple store honnored the new price for me.... FYI

mines coming from either Shangai or Hong Kong (dont recall, shangai seems most likely though) anywho that was estimated to arrive on Feb 10-11th

Shipping date is NOT the same as delivery date. It's the date they expect to ship your product by NOT when you receive it.

thats true - this a snip from my order (**'d out ship-numbers) :

"Activity Location Date / Time (GMT)
Shipment Picked Up (CNSHA**) 05 Feb 2005 01:57
Shipment Picked Up (CNSHA**) 05 Feb 2005 04:20

so that was a few days ago ... i assume its winging its way to the NL as we speak

Uh, I reordered mine (BTO this time) on the 3rd and it's already been picked up by FedEx. Though it is sitting in shanghai as we speak.

I ordered mine the afternoon Monday, the 31st. All I did was throw in an extra half gig of RAM. :D

Should have just ordered your RAM from crucial.com It's the exact same memory Apple uses in their laptops. (I verified this when I opened the RAM panel to add another SO-DIMM on the laptop I sent back.) It's also noticably cheaper to do so.

Just Ordered My PowerBook!!!

After having placed an initial order last week for a 17 inch I decided to cancel that order and go with the 15 inch instead. I am not really sure why, but I did and I will not allow myself to change my mind now.

I ordered the 1.67Ghtz, 1gig ram, 128 MbVram, and the iWork software with the educational discount.

The order has been processed and will take 7 to 10 days to ship with an arrival time of 2 -3 weeks.

This is my first Mac! I can hardley wait! :D :D :D

Unless you go for the gig, in which case Apple's price is nontrivially lower.

Is there a problem with the trackpads on the new PowerBooks??

MacFixit is reporting (http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20050206230903309) that some users receiving the new PowerBooks are having problems with mouse movement using the new Trackpads. The complaint is that mouse movement is very slow, and even setting the mouse speed to fastest in System Preferences doesn't help. Can anyone in this forum confirm this issue?

so, i have been saving for a powerbook (rather, i am just now in a position to start saving) and i am antsy to have "new." i run a 450 g4...so...i hurt when i run my audio apps.

people here have been pretty helpful with answering my questions about whether these would be suited to what i want. but it just dawned on me that i could get an imac with around half as much money and with the bigger Front side bus, which is the only thing that actually bothered me about the powerbooks.

well..i saw that the imacs had 600 mhz FSB and i was pretty sure it was a good way to go...despite the lack of portability (i am a studentin NY... subways) so i think to myself... i have a screen adn keyboard from my powermac...maybe i can afford a single processor pm..then i can have PCI cards and be in a MUCH better position for recording.

well i'll be...1.25ghz FSB on the dual 2.5 processor?

i am not buying a powerbook until it has at LEAST a 600mhz FSB. G4 or G5...i don't REALLY care. but that FSB is the weakest link.

i will not complain other than this...but i do want to know if that is feasible in the next year? because as i see it, that is a more approachable issue thatn the freakin processor. redesign the motherboard for greater use of what DOES fit. i will even pay a couple hundred more for it. but the sped boost would be worth it..i think.

Just Got my 17"

Hey guys I am so excited this thing is awesome. Well this is my first Mac as well and it finally showed up today. I have been going nuts checking these forums since last june. I initially wanted a 12" but decided the screen wasnt large enough so some time went by and around october i decided well hey ill get the 15. Well heres the thing when I got to the order page and had spec'd the 15 the way i wanted it was 2250 on edu discount so i figured I would just buy the 17 for another 150

Well anyhow this thing is running great I'm in the process of doin a battery rundown and transfering all my music from my dull. For anyone wondering this thing is quite speedy I thru another 512 stick i had lyin around until my 2 1 gig's get shipped. I guess the beauty of such a long update cycle was that it gave me more than enough time to save for my new machine. As far as the trackpad issues someone asked maybe some people are having problems but mine is plenty fast and responsive.
:D

I'm looking for some feedback. I'm considering buying a new 15PB soon.

Is now a good time or are the next round of updates going to see a drastic increase as opposed to a marginal one?

(Aside from "there's never a good time or bad time.)
