Excellent news!

I'm looking to spend some grant money and 4 x 27" iMacs and a couple 2 TB Time Capsules sounds like a great idea!

Does anyone know how these iMacs will perform with StarCraft 2? I have no experience with these GPUs.

store's up - also - the macbook pro's are listed as new. Not sure if they were bumped recently, or if they slid them in with the imacs

Time to retire my Mac Pro?

The previous-gen i7 iMac was tempting me to replace my 2008 8-core Pro, as the 27" I have at work is pretty fast. Since I want to save space and was planning on a new screen, I'm right on the edge. Thunderbolt really eliminates my need for PCIe slots, and I would love to regain some desk space.…

I'll never say, "too fast", but for the audio work I do, these are plenty fast enough.

Anybody got geekbench results yet?

Australia store has been updated, but won't go through to "buy it now". I want to check the BTO prices on it!

EDIT: also glad to see that the AUD price has dropped a bit. Still, the base item is AUD 1399 so that's over USD 1,500 - how does that compare for you Americans?

I was hoping for i7...c'mon apple WHY!

oh, BTO option, I hope they have i7 in stores

Not really sure why Apple can't bring themselves to put an i7 by default in a $2,000 machine. That's kind of ridiculous.

Because it would cost them another $100 in parts without increasing sales. This way they make more money per sale and will make even more from those who want it. There would be no processor upgrade path if they put the i7 as default.

Lol at the comparison specs... HL2, CoD4, Portal..

The only recent game there is SC2.

No 512GB SSD option. I would've gladly paid the premium for it (+$1200 instead of +$750), considering how much of a PITA it is to get at that (full logic board removal).

Choosing any SSD brings shipping time up from 1-3 days to 4-6 weeks.

Trackpad or mouse.. Now a choice...

Have you noted the mouse or trackpad is a choice now..
IIRC mouse was compulsory and trackpad was additional...

Looks like a solid update, shouldn't be long before a Mac Mini and Mac Pro update to complete the lineup.

Really good to see the update (finally)... but I am disappointed they didn't bring the 24" back :(

The 27" is too big, and the resolution on the 21.5 is laughable for an upgrade of this magnitude.

Still, quad core across the range is nice.

Anyone got UK prices yet? Page errors when I click the "Select an iMac" button on the store..

They're probably facing some shortage of SSD drives. If you want a BTO with SSD it says 2-3 weeks for the 21" and 4-6 weeks for the 27". Crazy

two external displays?

So with two thunderbolt ports can the 27" iMac now have two external displays?
