Can’t seem to get the HomePod to recognise either my wife’s voice or mine. Personal requests are switched on and authenticate to ‘never’.

It asks ‘who’s this?’ and then states that we have to authenticate on our iPhones.

Does Siri learn our voices over time?

it doesn’t work for me either. I have the iPhone 11 Pro

Weird. I just tried it and it worked fine for me. I was playing a Soundcloud song. Walked over and lightly tapped the top of the HomePod and got an alert on my phone that it was transferring - and quickly started playing on the Homepod.

Kinda makes sense since in the update it states that (fill in name: 'xxx' iPhone) has to be near.

I reset my homepods in the home app after they updated and now currently have 3 homepods sat on a white spinning circle for the past 3 hours, tried uplugging and manually resetting to no avail.
Any resolution to this issue yet? Want to know before I 'experiment'.....

All: Apple Music is having issues (though mine works just fine?).

You do not have to actually tap your phone on the HomePod. Just bring it close by.
I have also discovered that if I have transferred my music to the HomePod and do not transfer it back then my partner’s phone won’t transfer to the HomePod. Even if I Stop playing disconnect the speaker from my phone control centre. So make sure if multiple people are using it you transfer back to your phone when you’re done.

We’re both sitting in the same room and iPhones are within three feet of the HomePod.

I’ve since rebooted my iPhone and my wife’s access to the HomePod has since synced up as normal on my iPhone Home app settings. We’ll give it another go and report back.

Nothing yet, 3 homepods just sat spinning away...

May be nothing but one thing I do after ALL updates is restart once or twice.

D-120: I have two Hpods....will give it a try. May take awhile as I'm just updating my phone. One thing I know is that I can connect to Apple Music whereas others have said they can't...crossed fingers.

Yep, it bricked mine, on the phone w/ Apple right now and they're getting it serviced...

Apple Music is down and that might be a contributing factor. Can you let me know if this issue is fixed when the Apple Music problem is fixed? Right now it's still down and hard to tell if the update is impacting HomePods or if they're just not working at the moment because of the Apple Music downtime.

Neither tapping nor holding it near is working for me. Oh well. I will give it time. When my wife updates her phone I'll see what happens. And I've recycled the Transfer to HomePod setting without effect.

Here is working but is not fast I have to wait for almost 10sec to transfer.

I agree. A restart always seems to do my HomePod good.

Do we know what regions are suffering the outage. Seems fine in the UK. Some members are saying its only HomePods that can't play apple music and that other devices are fine

The comments weren't encouraging so I thought I'd try updating just one.

Anyway, it looks like all three are updating when I opened the Home app. Wish me luck.

Apple Music - Resolved Issue
so does this fix the homepod issue..dont want to update til I know its working now

Bricked all three of my Homepods.

I have an appointment tomorrow at the Apple Store store to have them sent back. My customer rep says he's had lots of calls about this today.

Be careful for those of you who have not yet updated, it might be best to wait a couple of days until Apple can pull the download or replace it.

Hold off on the updated. HomePods are getting Bricked

EDIT: the update works fine. Just DO NOT reset or remove the homepod/accessory from the Home app as this is whats causing the issue.

Have you checked for any change since Apple Music came back up?

Any feedback on how well (or otherwise) it works?
So far 50%. The HomePod responds to me but not my wife but both of us are set up properly to use profiles. Both of us have iPhones and trained Siri. Apple needs to put more info out on how this works and any special magic setting needed.

if it bricks and is out of warranty what do Apple do? Shrug and tell you it’s tough luck???
