it's not listed anywhere in the release notes, I looked.

It's kind of comical at this point that there's no EQ settings. I had a HomePod last winter but had to return it because the bass is so loud that even at low volumes my neighbors complained.

Same here. Bass is way too loud.

Ah. And it seems that ambient sound doesn’t work in Germany. Again very frustrating.

In other words, it will join iOS devices in hardly ever responding to Hey Siri.

Say what you want about the various products on the market, but every Alexa device I've had responds immediately to "Alexa". Whereas I can sit here and shout Hey Siri 10 times and its possible my iPhone or iPad won't respond at all. I blame this on their over zealous efforts to stop false positives. The result is it not working. This has happened often enough that I don't consider Hey Siri on iOS to be reliable enough for regular use.

Hey Siri on AirPods has helped this a little bit but not much.

Both of mine homepods is updated without any issues
Hendon999....how long? After almost an hour downloading to the phone its now been 'installing ' for over an hour??? Also, don't see the usual 'flashing lights' atop the home pod????

Hold off on the updated. HomePods are getting Bricked

EDIT: the update works fine. Just DO NOT reset or remove the homepod/accessory from the Home app as this is whats causing the issue.
Doing 120....have you resolved? If update worked did the top of one of your pods ever display the 'rainbow' effect?

So, how is HomePod suppose to be able to tell MY voice over my wife's voice or my kids voice? Is there a setting somewhere?

In the Home App you can add people to your Home.
Your then supposed to be able to set them to recognise their voices.
I have the option for me on my iPhone but don’t have the option for my son on my phone or his iPad.
I’m just updating my wife’s phone to see if that’s any different.

I have a different problem my HomePods (stereo setup) get stuck in download forever and eventually the Home App says that the accessory is not responding. Apple wants to swap them for new ones, I think that it is highly unlikely that I got two problematic HomePods. I will try other solutions before sending them back for replacement.

So far 50%. The HomePod responds to me but not my wife but both of us are set up properly to use profiles. Both of us have iPhones and trained Siri. Apple needs to put more info out on how this works and any special magic setting needed.
Same for me. HomePod recognises me, but on my partner's iPhone, the Home message is in a sort of loop, where every time I open it, it goes through the process of "training" Siri to recognise her voice, but when she asks "Hey Siri, who am I?", it still says it doesn't recognise her.
I was thinking of removing the HomePod from Home app, but that seems to be bricking them, so will hold for now.

My daughter has an iPod Touch, that can't be upgraded from iOS 12. Will this be an issue, ie, will it be impossible to add her voice because her device is not running iOS 13?

If you can get that to work, I’ll be very interesting. I cannot get it to work and lots of people are reporting the same. Doesn’t look like you can revert to the old method of not recognizing voice either.

basic non personal requests still work. So now I’m just waiting for Apple to push out a fix. I think it’s a bug on their side.

At 9:11 pm EDT, mine is still stuck in the downloading > installing > update requested loop that seems to be the bane of some people’s HomePod existence at the moment. Anyone else having this issue?

There are rumours the update has been pulled...?

There's a well covered known issue. All over social media.

no solution, I take it.

Yep; mine too.....shut down and will wait to see what Apple has to say tomorrow. Checked out the dedicated AppleTV/HomePod forum and 30-50% reporting same issues. This is why I always at least briefly review the forums prior to updating. Feel I missed a real headache as my two pods are still responding and working. Would have been pissed if I had to send them in......for refurbs?

All 3 of mine updated without any problems. I just tapped "Install" after the update was downloaded.

Weird. I just tried it and it worked fine for me. I was playing a Soundcloud song. Walked over and lightly tapped the top of the HomePod and got an alert on my phone that it was transferring - and quickly started playing on the Homepod.

welp, I tried to unpair/re-pair my HomePod and now its stuck in a reboot loop like the other people who have “bricked” their HomePod.

For some reason it doesn’t seem like my HomePods are updating. They all still say they’re in software version 12.4, even though my phone is updated to 13.2.
- Anyone else have this problem and find a way to force the software update?
- What is the version number of the latest HomePod software? Will it be listed as 13.2?

Apple pulled the HomePod updates as 13.2 was bricking the homepods

Seems they have officially pulled the update. It is no longer available for me.

Mine was stuck in a preparing, downloading, installing loop as well after about three hours, starting at around 6pm. I disabled automatic updates after reading about the bricked devices and then unplugged and plugged in the HomePod (not resetting it). Checked again now, 1am, for kicks and giggles and it’s stuck on “update requested” and HomePod is showing as “No Response” in the Home app. Otherwise, the HomePod is working as it should. Answers various queries and plays music. Bush league stuff going on.
