That's funny because Java doesn't even run in the browser anymore without explicity given permission to do so. Also when just installed it doesn't take up any system resources.
Resource hog/security hole is the boiler plate response here to flash and Java.

I am in the public beta, and I would like to take my iMac out of it. It only shows me the beta version for 10.11.4 (I haven't installed any of those). How do I "un-enroll" my iMac to get just the option to upgrade to 10.11.3?

Thanks!

I just want the damn thing to stop asking me to install some Java JDK every hour :(

er, you might want to try to find out what keeps doing that, because OSX won't be; and if you don't know what it is, is may be something that shouldn't be there.

Really, a lot faster?

without Flash, browsing is a lot faster, yes, and safer, and gives longer battery life. I've not had it installed on a Mac now for over a year.

I have a JDK installed because it's my job *and* my hobby, but even I don't have it enabled in the *browser*. As long as you ensure that too then it too won't be slowing down your browsing. (You can enable or disable java in the browser in the java control panel, in the security tab.)

There's an option in the App Store Preferences panel.

Fastest response ever by Apple servers on a release day, at least that's what I saw here at my location.

I've just installed it but the Mac was unresponsive just after it finished installing and started booting. I wasn't able to move the cursor or enter any information to setup the permission to send info to developers. I had to force shutdown and start it again after that everything seems to be working fine.

Sure, first thing I tried. Problem is that almost no webpage runs normally without those plugins.

Hardly *any* websites still have java applets. *as a java developer* I haven't even seen one for i don't know how long. Java does indeed still have its place(s) but applets are deader than a dead thing.

Flash is thankfully getting rarer too. My feeling now is that any site that only offers video as flash, or like BBC insists on serving flash to desktop users despite it working perfectly well using HTML5 if you force it, just don't really want me to watch their videos.

It's a shame because especially Java most certainly has its uses. Perhaps not so much for regular consumers I suppose.
...sure, on the backend. Let's keep it on servers, the enterprise and on Android please.

Anyone else noticed a problem with iTunes since updating? Playing a song no longer shows the "progress bar", you have to minimize iTunes to see it.
