I thought i seen it in the summary of bug fixes not sure though.
Thanks, I'll go and have a look.
Tbh there probably isn't any harm in doing the update anyway, as it'll either be fixed or not.

edit:
Hmm.. release notes specifically mention fix for 4K displays, which mine is not! but I'll give it a go anyway.

Didn't solve any of my issues Safari is still laggy and the overall system feels still slow. And i have a new iMac 27 5k late 2015 with full specs!? This is my 3e Mac and the first one i beginning regret to buy it. I did every trick there is to find a solution. Diagnostic Test says nothing is wrong with the hardware. Was hoping this update would solve my issues. Grrrrrr #%#@$^@ APPLE

You have a problem. I'm running El Capitan on a 2012 MacBook Pro and everything is fast except for Spotlight which seems to take for ever to find results. Try creating a new account and see if that's any better.

I'm currently backing up before doing the latest update. Something that I always do but It sounds like even better advice of this occasion!

Question...why do you have to download a Lion Recovery Update? Do they not have one for El Capitan, and is there any issue with using Lion (like it's better) or something?

Thanks.

Occasionally apple release a thing called Recovery Update. But only sometimes. It is an elegant way to update the recovery partition and does not require a full installer.

But they don't always release a Recovery Update and didn't for this 10.11.3 version. In fact they usually don't. More modern versions of this are soon deleted from the swscan server the mac app store uses once updates have gone by their used by date. But the 10.7.2 one has been permanently on apple's downloads page since 2011.

But ever since 10.7.2 it was discovered that the method I described before can be used to update the recovery partition with the lion recovery update because it has a proprietary software inside it called dmtest. Using that together with the script file I provided and the InstallESD.dmg file you extract yourself from the full installer has worked for 10.7.3 and all other point releases up to 10.11.3 and counting.

Theoretically you could extract dmtest and upload it elsewhere on the net or insert it into an app of your own. But that would be illegal.

So unless a special recovery update is released for a particular point release then the only legal way to get dmtest is to download lion recovery update.

Well the point is that I want to have the public release for a few days at least before putting on the 10.11.4 beta...

Call me old fashioned but I think we should be testing public releases (at least for a few days) as well as betas. So I don't just want to go from beta to beta endlessly without ever installing a public release.
Ah, ok, now I get it. I have one machine that I'll just go from beta to beta since it's purely for testing, but anything else goes from beta to release just so that I can do the same thing, and have a reasonable idea of what my users at work might encounter.

Apple never made the later El Capitan Recovery update easily available as a download except through the built-in OS X Software Update. The Apple tool that the script calls is still in the El Capitan Recovery Update and is unchanged since the Lion recovery update. Consequently I have to assume that the only reason this script looks for the Lion recovery update is simply for ease of downloading as there's no reason the script couldn't be modified to use the El Capitan recovery update.

What are the consequences for the user to not doing the recovery update

Well the point is that I want to have the public release for a few days at least before putting on the 10.11.4 beta.

So today I went from 15D13b to 15D21. I'll stay on 15D21 for a few days and then put 15E27e on later.

But those who went straight from 15D13b to 15E27e won't be able to properly test 15D21, unless they did a clean install for 15D21.

Call me old fashioned but I think we should be testing public releases (at least for a few days) as well as betas. So I don't just want to go from beta to beta endlessly without ever installing a public release.

Anyway it might all become an academic argument soon because there will probably be a new beta for 10.11.4 soon.

A 10.11.4 beta will be cumulative on top of 10.11.3 final. I don't know what you're slavering about that you should spend some time testing 10.11.3 before going to the .4 beta. 10.11.4 beta will be a SUPERSET of 10.11.3.

Since this release is security only, it hasn't fixed the issue many have had of HTML5 videos in Safari causing system freezes when tabs are closed or switched. That and the separate issue that (is possibly universal on El Capitan?) of videos not always scaling correctly if fullscreen. There's an ongoing discussion attempting to diagnose it here as Apple still claim no awareness of the issue:

Haven't seen this mentioned, but does this update fix the external monitor problem where the screen goes to sleep and is unable to wake without doing a hard reboot!

I have my mac tower connected to a samsung display via hdmi and when the mac goes to sleep the screen loses connection and cannot be woken unless I restart the machine. This only started happening on 10.11.12

As far as I can tell, no, they didn't fix this. I'm not sure I have the same problem as the one you mention. I have a MBPr with 2 external monitors attached and the lid open (total 3 screens) and usually when the screens shut down (not the machine) waking them up causes all sorts of havoc. I usually have to turn the external screens off first, "wake" the computer, and then turn the screens on again. This still happens with 10.11.3.

I must be getting really old... Is this an old April Fool's joke website?

BTW, I downloaded 32GB twice, so I got double ;) It does work that way - right

Probably... First time I saw it too.

Safari issues:

- Check your extensions and remove any extensions that may show a security concern. (Actually remove all to troubleshoot, then add them as needed)
- Remove Oracle JAVA and Adobe Flash if possible.
- Install AdBlock Pro extension

Before doing the above, Safari would eat my RAM and never give it back completely, and slow down my iMac.

Anybody else notice that activating a screensaver with hotcorners is broken in this release?

The £ character on my rMBP keyboard now seems to want me to press the alt-3 combination rather than SHIFT-3. I'm pretty sure it used to be the other (correct) way around, before.

I keep getting that too!! What the hell is it and how i get rid of it?

You have, or had, a third party application that required Java.

The Oracle Java website has instructions for removing Java.

Has anyone had issues with a MacBook Pro not booting after the update?

Mine hung part way through the update and even after reinstalling OSX it would not boot (it hangs just as the keyboard lights up before the desktop appears).
I'm currently restoring from a time machine backup.
First time I've had an issue updating.

Yes!! That damn message keeps coming, even after installing Java... And I wouldn't know why I even NEED Java...

I posted this in reply to another thread, I finally cured this problem on my computer by finding and deleting a T-Mobile bobsled app (now abandoned) in an odd library folder. This link shows a few places to check for any old system startup software that may be causing your problem.

Hopefully this link will help in search for any legacy software that may be causing the same issue.

Yes, so you can sleep through all the mail corruption! UGH! :(

There is no way to install El Capitan from Mavericks without your EMAIL being corrupted if you have multiple email accounts. I've done this like a dozen times and pulled all my hair out. It will never adapt several Mavericks email MAIL accounts to El Capitan. WHY OH WHY???

WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT??? It's just making what worked before STILL WORK! UGH!
Sorry, but it's maddening.

I had similar experiences when upgrading from Yosemite, I don't have time at the moment to test if Apple has finally fixed this bug.

Given how short time 10.11.3 was in development I am sceptical it fixes most of the bugs previously I reported to Apple. Furthermore absurdly short description of the improvements isn't exactly promising...:(

s he the one that runs the OS X team an did the problems start with him in charge? I work with Apple for years never had any problems and the problems i did had was due to my own handeling, but now Apple is starting to become a company that ask ridiculous amounts of money for their products and don't deliver the quality for it. Updates don't fix **** and it i'm left stuck with the feeling i just been robbed. They collect all the issues people have and the team they have most be big and talented programmers why oh why can't they solve it?

I have similar feelings, some of the bugs I reported during Yosemite beta still haven't been fixed and that was 1.5 years ago...

Just in case, check your HotCorners settings, then restart your Mac.

It seems that your keyboard has changed to ENGLISH U.S.
Check your settings, you may need to change it back to whatever setting you had before.

I did the update last night and it broke wireless printing. I finally decided to do what I should have tried at first, another restart, and all is back to normal. Hope that helps if anyone else runs into the same issue.

No issues here: 2011 iMac
Also, my 2009 MacBook is already on 10.11.4 beta and has no issues either.
