Well suppose I installed build 15D13b and then 15E27e. How then do you suppose I install 15D21? I bet you can't.
I don't understand why it matters if you install the final 10.11.3 if you're just going to install the 10.11.4 beta immediately. The OS you would have is build 15E27e, and what was there before isn't relevant as the files for 15E27e are what's on your disk. It doesn't matter that you had the 10.11.3 beta on there before.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're actually trying to do.

Well the point is that I want to have the public release for a few days at least before putting on the 10.11.4 beta.

So today I went from 15D13b to 15D21. I'll stay on 15D21 for a few days and then put 15E27e on later.

But those who went straight from 15D13b to 15E27e won't be able to properly test 15D21, unless they did a clean install for 15D21.

Call me old fashioned but I think we should be testing public releases (at least for a few days) as well as betas. So I don't just want to go from beta to beta endlessly without ever installing a public release.

Anyway it might all become an academic argument soon because there will probably be a new beta for 10.11.4 soon.

Don't forget to update your recovery partition. Updating through the mac app store or with the delta or combo update will NOT update the recovery partition.

To make the 10.11.3 recovery partition:

1. Download the Lion Recovery Update from https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1464?locale=en_US . Make sure it is in your downloads folder. Download the full installer for el capitan 10.11.3 from the mac app store, right click on it and click Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/SharedSupport/. Copy the InstallESD.dmg file into your Downloads folder.

2. Download and decompress the file recovery.sh.zip from http://4unitmaths.com/recovery.sh.zip and move recovery.sh into your Downloads folder if it's not there already.

3. Open Terminal and type the following commands:

chmod +x ~/Downloads/recovery.sh

sudo ~/Downloads/recovery.sh

4. Wait a few minutes for it to finish and return back to a prompt. Reboot with holding down the option key to test your 10.11.3 recovery partition.

Question...why do you have to download a Lion Recovery Update? Do they not have one for El Capitan, and is there any issue with using Lion (like it's better) or something?

Thanks.

thank you for the links
I just went here and downloaded more ram:

http://downloadmoreram.com

seemed to do the trick.
what the heck is that ???

Does it fix anything or just a placebo update?
Didn't solve any of my issues Safari is still laggy and the overall system feels still slow. And i have a new iMac 27 5k late 2015 with full specs!? This is my 3e Mac and the first one i beginning regret to buy it. I did every trick there is to find a solution. Diagnostic Test says nothing is wrong with the hardware. Was hoping this update would solve my issues. Grrrrrr #%#@$^@ APPLE

It's not April yet. If this makes you happy, then go for it. :D

Update: Sorry for being rude. Got myself an extra 32GB RAM. Couldn't be any happier!

I must be getting really old... Is this an old April Fool's joke website?

BTW, I downloaded 32GB twice, so I got double ;) It does work that way - right

:DI suspected the joke, but Im not going to click on any suspicious website....

Yes you should better not do that on a website you don't know. But that one exists since many years and does nothing else than just displaying a download progress. ;)

I really don't know what these morons at Apple are doing. This Craig Federighi guy is a joker and he has destroyed the OS X!

You are right, but in this case it might be a hardware issue or he migrated too much old stuff on the new iMac and/or uses software that is slowing down everything like most of the unnecessary anti virus applications.

I have the same iMac and everything is running extremely fast.

Is he the one that runs the OS X team an did the problems start with him in charge? I work with Apple for years never had any problems and the problems i did had was due to my own handeling, but now Apple is starting to become a company that ask ridiculous amounts of money for their products and don't deliver the quality for it. Updates don't fix **** and it i'm left stuck with the feeling i just been robbed. They collect all the issues people have and the team they have most be big and talented programmers why oh why can't they solve it?

Apple Diagnostic Test came out clear, no problems where found. I did a clean install and moved my doc. manually so no old system stuff. Reset SMC, Reset NVRAM, Safe Mode boot etc. Nothing really helped. Does your Safari feel slow, responding slow addressbar delay, delay tabs not all the time 60% if i had to guess. And i don't have any Virus apps installed.

really hope the 4K wake fix sorts the problem for me. I use a samsung 4K and it crashes sporadically on wake when connected with DisplayPort adapter. So annoying. Works fine with HDMI...

I wasn't talking about the hardware. I'm talking about the OS X and the numerous bugs it has these days. None of these bugs are patched in the current OS and a new version of OS X is released which have same bugs or even new bugs. It's insane that 10.11.4 beta is out before 10.11.3 is released to the public. Sometime I wonder if this is all just for placebo effects. Craig Federighi is definitely not doing his job properly and instead he wants people to forget about bugs in favour of new features (half of them no one uses and they don't work properly). In past Apple fixed bugs in the current version of OS X before realising a new one. I myself submitted bug reports twice from my developer account and once by Apple Care team as a customer. Apple engineers took the data and acknowledge the problem saying that they are working to fix it and it has been one and half year and no solution yet! And yes, if I pay a hefty premium on Apple products then I demand a better experience too.

The only problems with Safari (and other browsers) is that sometimes clicking on something does not load at first try. But that's the cheap/old router's or cable internet provider's fault.

I am already on Safari 9.1, but there had been also no problems before and I would not recommend to install a Beta for a newer Safari version if you need the USB ports for 3.0 devices.

Apple Diagnostics does not in all cases find damaged hardware.

Did you replace or add the RAM?

Selecting or adding tabs in Safari isn't related to how fast my router is i think only when you really are on the internet.

"Apple Diagnostics does not in all cases find damaged hardware." Ok how do you know then if there is a hardware problem if it doesn't show it? I need to drive a long way to a Apple Store and i'm not sure if they run the same Diagnostic Test, because that won't really help, properly they have a more extended version. And they will always start saying do a clean install, but i did that already. I use the Mac for work (graphic design) and i feel that programs are running different than my Macbook Pro that is replaced with the iMac. Safari is really noticeable because of the delay when selecting addressbar and tabs.

Oh and i thought because i had only 8gb because Apple price for memory is ridiculous i buy some later on. And because of the problems i bought the full 32 GB at OWC really good brand Micron. Installed it without any problems, but the software issues are still there.

@Pallumm

You could try if a newer Safari version is working better, when you download the WebKit Nightly. Then you have two Safaris with a different icon color at the same time.
But it might confuse your normal Safari when you are running both simultaneously. My extensions sometimes disappeared and came back after I did that.

https://webkit.org/nightly/

But if everything is running slower than on your old MBP. There seems to be a hardware problem. Or something is wrong with your installation. Have you tried a second clean install?

I would create a thread about your problem and post an EtreCheck protocol to see if there are software/hardware issues and maybe some benchmark results to see, if your iMac is running at full speed.

We are getting too much off the topic here.

I had a thread already:

The etrecheck was before the clean install.

But i did the most of what you are suggesting already and of course the iMac is faster than my Macbook Pro, but i can't explain it, but i feels sluggish sometimes. Different benchmarks showed high results in the top range.

I didn't do a second clean install, because the first time didn't solve anything so why would the second time. I thought it would i do it right away, but don't see it as a solution for now i need the iMac for work.

Haven't seen this mentioned, but does this update fix the external monitor problem where the screen goes to sleep and is unable to wake without doing a hard reboot!

I have my mac tower connected to a samsung display via hdmi and when the mac goes to sleep the screen loses connection and cannot be woken unless I restart the machine. This only started happening on 10.11.12

I thought i seen it in the summary of bug fixes not sure though.
