The server is slow today. It is taking 5 minutes for the combo instead of 40 seconds like last time with my not so fast connection.

Someone able to update using the Combo updating from 10.11.2 ?
My combo is not working on a 10.11.2 MBP but the same Combo file works and updated just fine an iMac running 10.11.3.

I have downloaded the 1.94GB twice from https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1869
same results.

I installed te update and now I'm in the process of slowly restoring my late 2014 iMac from a Timemachine backup.

Immediately after installing the update and restarting my Mac I got a kernel panic (unexpected sigkill of launchd) that made my Mac unusable.

I recommend not to install the update at the moment.
Same thing happened on my 2012 Mac Mini. After a very lengthy Time Machine restore, and I am hesitant to upgrade any of my other Macs.

I just updated my Mac Mini, which uses a bluetooth keyboard. After the update, the keyboard is un recognized...restart hasn't helped, removing the keyboard from the bluetooth list and attempting to re-add it hasn't worked, either...kind of a pisser...

Looks like the final build is 15E65 as well. If you already had the final beta, that would explain why you're not getting an update; they're virtually identical.

The last beta was build 15E64a not 15E65.

15E65 is the public release.

The betas removed the toggle for the system info and displayed the full system number and build number without having to click it to see the build number.

But the toggle has returned for the public release of 10.11.4 and so now you click 10.11.4 and it should display the build number. It shouldn't say "beta" if you installed it properly.

Updated MacBook Pro late 2013 model to OS X 10.11.4 last night with no problems along with the new iOS for my iPhone 6 and iPad Air. I sure wish the Macbook had the Night Shift screen like the iOS devices.

Just use f.lux for right now. Apple might integrate Night Shift feature into OS X 10.12.

Same story (also a 2012 Mini; kernel panic; launchd issues). Reinstalling through Recovery did not work (1 hour), had to recover 400GB from TimeMachine (5 hours), and now it's downloading all my e-mails and iCloud data (1 hour). Rather *hesitant* to update again as well…
I wonder what the reason might be…

Hi, by the way (new to the forum).

I have a 2008 mac pro and 10.11.4 trashes it!!!

I can't believe apple released this!!

I tried to clone over another drive and same issue.

I have not read anyone that had a problem with 10.11.4 get it working.

I don't want to waste time but it looks like I have to, what a disaster.

Gone are the days of apple updates just working.

If you have not done the update DO NOT. Make an image first then try or you will spend lots of time trying to get back.

Anyway sorry for the rant......

My mac pro boots but when I log in it does not load everything and says stuff is missing like system preferences and is extremely slow.

right now I am running off an image drive with 10.11.3 that I made back in 12-2015
I would like my newer files / programs from my destroyed 10.11.4 somehow.

This is a mess.

I am sorry you have the issue you have with your Mac Pro. It must be something specific to your machine or installation. My upgrade went smoothly on my 3,1 Mac Pro.

Don't forget to update the recovery partition as well.

If you just update el capitan with the delta or combo update, it will not update the recovery partition.

For example, if you update 10.11.3 to 10.11.4 with the delta update, the recovery partition stays at 10.11.3 version.

One way to update the recovery partition is to run the latest full installer - even if your system is already up-to-date. But that's like opening a nut with a sledge hammer.

There is a much quicker way to do it without running the full installer.

1. Download the Lion Recovery Update from https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1464?locale=en_US . (And before you ask, YES. I mean LION recovery update!) Make sure it is in your downloads folder. If you still happen to have the latest full el capitan installer somewhere, right click on the Install OS X El Capitan.app file and click Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/SharedSupport/. Copy the InstallESD.dmg file into your Downloads folder. If you don't still have the full installer, you can get it again by redownloading from your purchases tab in your mac app store.

2. Download and decompress the file recovery.sh.zip from http://4unitmaths.com/recovery.sh.zip and move recovery.sh into your Downloads folder if it's not there already.

3. Open Terminal and type the following commands:

chmod +x ~/Downloads/recovery.sh
sudo ~/Downloads/recovery.sh

4. Wait a few minutes for it to finish and return back to a prompt. Reboot with holding down the option key to test your recovery partition.

(Although if you have core storage you will have to revert it to make the recovery partition show up in the startup manager. Just run these in terminal to revert it if you want to:

diskutil cs list

and then

diskutil coreStorage revert lvUUID

where lvUUID is the last lvUUID reported by the previous Terminal command. Then restart.)

NOTE: This method can also be used to create a recovery partition even when one does not previously exist, eg., when using CCC to restore a system, often the recovery partition is not restored too.

The result should look something like this in the startup manager:

10.11.4recoverpartition.jpg

Thanks for your kind word
I have tried safe mode also and same problem.
Now I am trying recovery with install on top, I don't hold hope as others tried and said it did not work
Next I will try the combo update if I can get it to work at all.
Last is a fresh install then copy from cloned drive

Unless other advise? From anyone.

I can confirm that a re install in OSX in recovery does not work.

I think I am going to wipe the drive, load a fresh copy on it and try to let it copy my data from the clone I made tonight with settings I hope this works.

Did you update the recovery partition as per my instructions above?
How do I update my system when it won't let me open much at all? The way it is now.

My system is extremely slow and most apps won't run.

So how do I update from recovery?
That's all I have at the moment.

Besides my 10.11.3 clone of 12-2015 that works?
Thanks

The instructions above are not for updating the system. They are for updating the recovery partition itself to a 10.11.4 version.

If you just want to update the system, you could just use a delta, combo or full installer, depending on which system you currently have. You said you have 10.11.3 so you should only need the delta to update it.

If you want to clean install the system via the recovery partition you could erase the volume with disk utility and then reinstall os x.

An alternative to using the recovery partition is to make a bootable usb, boot up from that and then erase the drive and reinstall the system. The bootable usb would be faster to install from because it will not require a download as part of the install process as required in the recovery partition method. Here are apple's instructions for making a bootable usb: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201372 However you will have to download the full installer in order to make the bootable usb.
