Used combo update, and it stalled on "moving items into place".

If I re-run the installer, it says "waiting for other installations to complete". I'm scared to restart incase it installs corrupt files!

Yep, I'll wait to see if it breaks anything first...
I don't want to be the beta tester. Hopefully it is a good update for those
that need it.
Don't be ridiculous. There have been many folks who've been running 10.7.4 for the last few months. Beta testing is over.

Just tried combo updater. Failed during install, said it encountered an error. I now have no functioning OS. Boot partition is gone. Cannot even use repair partition as it doesn't see my main partition. I guess I know what I am doing this weekend.

Does anyone have this problem i installed the new update and now when I turn on my computer it turns off for no reason, restart the computer again and it shut off again weird, my computer was working fine until installed the update

de-crypted. ran disk utility. original error gone. new one appeared:

Invalid Volume Header @ 0: incorrect block type
Invalid Volume Header @ 479244221953: incorrect block type
disk0s2 is not a CoreStorage volume

booted from Recovery Partition, ran Disk Utility twice on repair. Didn't say it was repairing anything, but it didn't find anything, either.

All came out okay.

Re-booted into startup drive and verified via Disk Utility. All is now well.

Going to re-encrypt and move on with my life.

Boy they fixed third party keyboard usb reliability? They are burning the candle at both ends at apple to bring updates to lion. And it's not as if lion is buggy enough to warrant updates now is it?

Let me fix that for you:

Ah the scourge of Apple OSX's implementation of SMB

You are an oasis of truth in this forum, glad there's people like you too here. :)

Back to point. I still run 10.6.8 due to this as a total disaster with lion.

Is it better now? Is there still a major delay in finder with attached network shares from a windows box?
Thx
Yes it is, they are clearly not doing the work they should be doing in smb. Apple clearly don't have the resources anymore to work on both ios and OS X.

When will they fix the f*cked up behavior of locking files that haven't been edited as frequently as Lion deems appropriate?

That's annoying even if it works well. But I've had several files get into some state where it just says they can't be saved -- with no further explanation. Duplicating them seems to be a workaround, but there is clearly a bug here that needs fixing badly. (Let me correct that -- it badly needs fixing well).

It's not a bug it's feature!

Locking of files after (by default 2 weeks) can be changed (length of time) or fully disabled in System Preferences, Time Machine, Options.

You have some nerve calling others ridiculous for thinking it twice before they install this update just after 10.7.3 caused this to happen, via ars technica:
Some Mac users have begun reporting problems after installing Mac OS X 10.7.3 , including repetitive app crashes and a bizarre "CUI" error.
If anything it's you who are ridiculous.

This reminds me of my failed SSD when I installed 10.7.3 or whatever ... if that happens again I'm going to be really upset.
