I always find "FaceTime Audio" naming is a bit ridiculous. The point of FaceTime was a video call and communicate face to face and no longer voice only, hence the name.

Well, to be totally fair, one's face does have one's mouth on it so it could just as well mean mouth to ear and ear to mouth, but obviously it was named as such for the video. They could have just called it all iChat and it would have made plenty of sense.... I mean Skype has video, audio and messaging options all in one and it's not called Skype Audio, Skype Video and Skat-Chat or something. It's just Skype. Why not just iChat? It's because they wanted something to get your attention when the feature first came out (i.e. finally Dick Tracy video calls on your phone and "iChat" had already been used for years to mean messaging. But now it's come around to bite them on their hind quarter with an absurd name.

I know not every time people would find video call feasible, at times it may seems inappropriate or awkward. I'm okay with that, but maybe Apple should just call it VoiceTime. I know it's only naming but hey, isn't that all Apple about? :D

They should just have iChat featuring Facetime and stop charging $1 for older OS versions already....it really makes Apple look cheap.

Meanwhile, I see side-mounted docks still don't migrate. I finally found out that the bottom dock wasn't migrating here either because I had the second monitor mounted diagonally relative to the other monitor in Display (this allowed me to put the dock on the left side of the main monitor despite there being another monitor to the left). Apparently, the dock won't migrate unless it's side-by-side monitor positions, not diagonal or top/bottom positions and that's only with a bottom position dock. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they can't be bothered to migrate the side-position docks. Better yet, just keep docks on both screen ALL THE TIME. Having to move the mouse down to make it migrate becomes a pain anyway. Just leave them both on the screen like the menu bar. They could make one unselected (semi-transparent) if they wanted, but this would solve the dock problems for everyone and every monitor position, not just side-by-side with a bottom dock.

Mail so far seems much better behaved (i.e. new mail seems to be arriving in a timely fashion once again, not days apart without restarting). I'm less sure about other issue since I'm having trouble remembering what they all were offhand (most minor here).

I think the iCloud re-logging fixed the constant pestering by iCloud for a password each time (which I couldn't work around because I don't use an iCloud email account so I couldn't add it to the preferences). So far it stopped nagging.

graphix drivers

i saw a lot of people asking about graphics drivers and if they've been updated. before 10.9.2 i installed the "beta" web drivers from nvidia (a workaround provided by some talented video card gurus on this forum) and after the update, the Nvidia Driver Manager told me the nvidia drivers weren't compatible with my operating system version and it was using the OS X drivers. The Cuda pane says:

CUDA Driver Version: 5.5.28
GPU Driver Version: 8.24.9 310.40.25f01

The web driver I was using was: 331.01.01b07

So seems like a downgrade (and is proven with Unigine benchmarks with about 3 FPS average slower), however, [slightsarcasm] i'm sure nvidia is right on top of this [/slightsarcasm]

Nvidia drivers are not updated. The thing is that the GTX 780M I have is 20-30% slower on Mavericks than on Windows 8.1 ( Unigine Heaven 4.0 / OpenGL )

Totally unacceptable and rubbish.

Also I still have the lag/sluggish application folder in dock when opened after some idle time.

I also still have that hiccup when accessing disk utility more like a second freeze whatever you call it.

Also wireless keyboard delay on login screen ( around 5 seconds ) to put the username/password although boot time is 8 seconds. On Bootcamp, keyboard delay is no longer than a second.

This seriously isn't acceptable.

Power button no longer will put MacBook Pro with Retina to Sleep

I noticed after the 10.9.2 upgrade that the power button will no longer will put the 15" Macbook Pro with Retina (late 2013 model) to sleep anymore. This was working fine on 10.9 and 10.9.1.
Submitted a feedback report to Apple.

Eh, Samsung Galaxy has nothing to do with any galaxy that I'm aware of and Final Fantasy XIII is a thing even though you'd think with a name like Final Fantasy, there'd be no room for sequels.

Inconsistency in naming for what your tuition tells you is everywhere. :D

You actually have to hold down the power button for at least a second then the laptop will be put into sleep mode.

i don't have any of the other symptoms you described but this definitely occurs.

also, there is this from user flowrider:

"Just ahead of the 10.9.2 release, Nvidia released another Beta Driver available here:

http://us.download.nvidia.com/W68s84...1.01.01b15.pkg

Seems developed for the 10.9.2 final release.

The Cuda driver should be along very soon.

havent tried this yet, but will give a go

So, I updated and I was wondering am I safe now, or as safe as one can be on the internet? :D:D

Computer not supported...

yeah, i just installed them and ran a few benchmarks. these beta web drivers, although higher in version number, perform lower than the os x 10.9.2 drivers (by less than a frame per second, negligible, really) hopefully nvidia releases newer drivers in the near future as i'd like to gain those ORIGINAL 3 FPS i lost with this update.

on an upside, though, system animations seem to be much snappier.

According to Forbes, they contacted Apple and a rep said that the SSL issue in Mavericks AND MOUNTAIN LION has been addressed.

I thought it was only a MAvericks issue?

BTW, who set up the gotofail.com test site? How do we know there wasn't something malicious on that site?

I have trust me I even called my ISP they tell me there is nothing wrong I complained to Netflix and tell me it is my ISP I tell my ISP they say it is Netflix and keep on going around in circles:mad:

SO ONE IS BEING A DICK AND NEED S TO ADMIT WHO IS AT FAULT!

I know this is highly off topic, but I just wanted to say that I've gone through this same back and forth and have yet to get any results. I know my connection is fully capable of sufficient speed (for example, if I go download something from Steam right now it will almost certainly use my full 50Mb/sec), however I can rarely maintain HD on Netflix any any device I've tried. Comcast tells me it's not on their end, Netflix tells me it's not on their end, and I have solid download speeds in non-Netflix usage...

*Edit: In fact this is so far off-topic I should have sent a PM reply instead I guess. Too late now since I've already posted.

Well they only had 18 months to sort it. But only bothered when someone else made it public knowledge.

Wow, have Mavericks and iOS 7 alteady been out 18 months? How time flies...wait, what?

Oh yeah, they've both been out for less than 6 months - wait, are you from a future parallell universe where it is already 2015, and Apple never fixed this issue and never released new hardware or new operating systems in 2014 at all??

The rep misspoke? It certainly happens.

As for gotofail.com I believe it's a security researcher or someone like that that set it up and has been deemed trusty in genral. Plus I think the source is available and has been looked at by other experts and anyone interested to make sure there's nothing weird about it and it's just a check for the issue.

lol FaceTime audio. Woohoo!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying 1992 tech :D
Wow, HD voice essentially using VOIP was available on cell phones and computers when 14.4 Kbps modems dialed into BBSs? Who knew.

The SSL bug allows man in the middle to see what is supposed to be encrypted traffic in clear txt. It isn't a back door into your OS.
