Apple Releases OS X 10.9.2 With Fix for Major SSL Vulnerability, FaceTime Audio

Hmm, the last Beta bumped my SATA-II negotiated link speed down to 1.5GBPs. I was hoping the GM would fix the issue but sadly it hasn't.

Seeing as that last beta was the only thing that changed when the down speed occurred I can only assume that something in .2 is causing it. Wish I knew how to get it back up to 3GBPs again.

so, i tried to download the whole thing again (to create a usb installer) from a different computer and ended up getting the same error message that the the installer failed to download.

and while its downloading the counter will zero out and start again this will happen a couple of times and then i'd get the error..

Come on, they waited 2 working days. I'm betting they already had 10.9.2 GM going through QA, and it was actually more efficient to do it this way.

Look, security is not a joke, we all accept that; but this isn't the massive exploit the media are making it out to be. To be practically exploitable, you'd need to become an intermediary node on the target's network (even at a public WiFi spot, this isn't easy - inter-node communication is typically disabled by the router).

It doesn't let some randomer half-the-world away remotely hijack your notebook.

How dare you inject some sanity into a perfectly good stampeding panic.

The crash of the video card (integrated and \ or dedicated) on my MacBook Pro 15 "i7 Mid 2010 continue incessantly and continuously. Even just going from one desk to another. Obscene!

I'm also stuck with the blue installing bar for over an hour now.

In the end I held down power until it stopped, waited a few secs, rebooted and I came back in on 10.9.1

Tried again and it installed quickly on my Air 2010 C2D so I think I probably should have rebooted before I installed

Disappointed that applications are still showing up on the wrong monitor in my two-monitor setup. As in, I use the app on one screen, close it, open it back up and it's on the other monitor. More annoying than anything. I think in general I still don't like the two menubar thing - I'm always clicking on a menu only to find out it's another app's menu. Kind of an oddball decision that breaks with 30 years of Mac OS.

No fix for Email Retrival

So far the update has not fixed the issue with many IPS's like Cox Communications on fetching email. You still have to quit Mail or Go Offline and then back on to get new emails. VERY FRUSTRATING this is NOT FIXED...

How hard is it to simply retrieve incoming emails? Good grief... My patience is wearing thin on this issue.

Brand new start of the art iMac that can't even retrieve email unless I go back to POP3 and loose all my folders or I use a different ISP and that wold create a HUGE pain in the neck...

Few issues...

Firstly, it seems odd, but itunes application may not appear on screen when opening, but instead you hear a *beep*.

Although the app is open, you cannot see window (it appears in task switcher and light is lit on dock icon)

To get round this, connect your device first... then itunes always appears on-screen

Makes no sense, but it works...

In addition, when device is connected iTunes does not remember last view (window or full screen)..

Instead, it does still open, but it alternatives first, then after closes, goes to the other one.

Could be a config issue. maybe trash itunes plist files ?

In addition if you have Mission Control set up with the App Store app to open on one specific Desktop, if you have other apps open on a different one, and you attempt to go to "About this Mac" then check for updates button, it shifts desktops two one location, then back to another, instead of just one shift.

Thank you SO much for letting us all know.

Thank you for replying with even more pointless post.

So the update has failed for me. In the middle of updating it suddenly displayed login screen and then prompted me that some updates weren't installed.

Unfortunately AppStore shows 10.9.2 as if it was properly installed (which is not). gotofail.com still says my browser is vulnerable and about this mac reveals 10.9.1.

Bummer.

So overall question, is the SSL thing new? Or has it basically been in existence since Safari 1.0?

Have we been totally f'ed in all the past versions of OS X?

No. The bug was an apparent typo and crept into the SSL code for Mavericks.

Anyone know hw to use FaceTime audio in the messages app? Don't see a telephone icon in the right corner...

I see a telephone icon in the right corner. If you don't, it's likely that person isn't capable of FaceTime, or perhaps you aren't signed in to FaceTime.
