Apple Releases OS X 10.9.2 With Fix for Major SSL Vulnerability, FaceTime Audio

If you have comcast as you ISP then they throttle other streaming services like netflix. I saw something the other day about how netflix is going to start paying them for higher speeds.
Most likely this is what is happening and netflix then downgrades the performance to SD since HD would then stutter too much

I have Charter Communications they are not any better so I would not be shocked they are probably playing the same game like Comcast.

Looks like Apple will have to sneak in another back door for the NSA, although I figured their are probably more than one of the exploits still left in.

Does this address the MacBook Air sleep blackscreen issue?

I've heard that is should, but I have yet to confirm it myself. Think it's reasonable that they have, though since it's been reported from all angles (mine included).

At least I've heard they have changed the way pressing the power button behaves. Now I quick ”press and release” won't sleep the computer –*you ahve to hold the button about half a second –*a quick press does nothing.

I'm very disappointed.

This release didn't fix the following:

a) Numerous Time Machine bugs (post here)
b) The Console window resizing bug (when you resize the Console window and then quit Console, it will default back to the original size upon re-open)
c) The Migration Assistant checkmark UI glitch (single post here)

All those bugs has been reported to Apple via bugreport.apple.com, and they said there should be a fix for the TM bugs. Nothing, nada, zilch. Very disappointed and now discouraged by Apple updates. They never seem to fix anything that I report.

Positive: I do notice random beachballs has SEEMINGLY disappeared, though - too early to tell, I'll give it a few days to settle down and see if it has disappeared for good.

No more tearing/lagging while changing spaces :D weeeee

(rMBP 2012)

What is funny in an "I am pissed right now" sort of way is that my 2012 rMBP that previously had no tearing/stuttering/delay in Expose/Spaces under 10.9.1 is now terrible performing these tasks under 10.9.2. I have a Thunderbolt display connected, but this is the way I have been running for months.

I tried the MAS delta update and then applied the Combo update and the result is equally bad.

Why would you say the MAS is safer?

Well, if you consider that we are all technically vulnerable to MITM attacks, isn't it possible someone in. 'Privileged network position' ;) spoof an apple website? I assume the dmg files from there are still digitally signed and checked when run?
For that to happen you are basically implying that there would be a whole different another (perhaps even bigger) security hole with someone being able to digitally sign Apple updates as Apple.

Installed. Mavericks forgot my Wifi key, it will be boring if that's the case for all my previously known networks

Umm... forgive me if I just don't see it but the headline in this article explicitly spells out that the SSL vulnerability fix was included in this patch, yet I see no mention of it in the release notes in the general release notes or the security release notes... Also other sites are already reporting that the fix is NOT included in this update... which is right?
There is a link to security fixes that are included in the update, which goes to a page that usually within about a day or so of the update (for security reasons) will contain the security fixes that are part of that update.

Apple prioritizes bug fixes by the amount of squeaky wheels they hear for each issue. So if you have a bug that's very important to you, do some grassroots campaigning to get others to file the bug.

As for this update, with the security flaw fix they probably wrapped up 10.9.2 early and shipped out what was stable, so it's possible they left out some bug fixes which weren't completely tested and verified.

God, I hope it fixes the most annoying Safari bug where it loads a random page without finishing typing the URL.

That happens for me, but only when I type quickly, press enter, open new tab, type again, and the enter is late. I don't think it's an actual problem.

Noticed very active mdsworker process after update... looks like system has to reindex the entire mail system on update.

10.9.2 was close to release anyway. The same build was sent to a number of Apple Employees a few days ago (reported on here).

Whew

I can finally take my Mac out of the closet and use it again, i was soooooo worried. /s

The two other bugs are mostly harmless, just annoying.

The TM bug WAS reported by many people, and Engineering told me they would be getting/testing a fix for TM and the issues people were having, but dropped the ball in 10.9.2. Perhaps they meant 10.9.3?

I agree, maybe 10.9.2 was a bit rushed with the SSL fix before they could put in other bug fixes. It seems like 10.x.3 is when that version of OS X settles down, anyway.

Disappointing nonetheless.

I have one missed Facetime call, but I can't seem to get rid of the number 1 icon badge. Any ideas? I've clicked on the missed call, but that hasn't cleared it.
