Why are you guys so eager about iBooks for OSX? You better buy books for Kindle, so you can read them at any device you want... you're not bound to Apple then.

And there's a kindle-app on the mac already, with sync and everything.

It's a little strange that they seeded beta 4 of Mavericks and not iOS 7. I thought they would either release both, or release nothing at all.

It's not strange. There is no rule that iOS betas must be released every two weeks. Every version of iOS has had betas that have come 3 or more weeks apart. There was no guarantee that beta 4 was going to come today. It still might, or it might not have been scheduled for another few weeks. No one knows.

I hope it comes soon, though.

I personally compare prices and availability on both. If it's the same I go iBooks, I prefer the app for iOS compared to Amazon's. If Amazon is cheaper I'll go with it.

Because I like beautiful looking apps, not just any app that shows text. And since I prefer beauty, I only have Apple devices.

IBooks is also for PDFs, and will sync with iBooks on iOS over iCloud. I'm excited for it for that reason, even though I use kindle for books.

iBooks will also be handy for those who want to use the multimedia textbooks but don't own an iPad.

Well, Kindle is for pdfs too... you can even email them to your address and they are in your library.

I get em from Amazon, strip the DRM, covert the mobi to epub, then use em however I damn well please! In the name of thwarting pirates, these companies wind up screwing over their legitimate customers, driving them to... piracy.

We won't be able to tell till the download finishes and we install the beta. Be patient :)
Something tells me that iBooks will be released separately on the Mac App store.

How are you downloading it with the dev site being down?

I guess this means we probably will be seeing an iOS 7 beta update today!

I can't remember seeing any outstanding issues with the last build of Mavericks but I'm happy to see the update anyways.
