DP7 has finally fixed most if not all issues I had with my dual screen setup here.
For the first time since 10.6 I'm finally able to take full advantage of the second display.
I'm happy. :)

Go read again, I said there were 4 DP's, not 4 releases.

Which is completely irrelevant information, what matters is the number of releases, not the number with an arbitrary naming convention.

It doesn't. Not in the UI. But in all the press kits, marketing material, and even the logo itself, are Myriad Pro Light and Ultra Light. Nowhere is Myriad Roman used at all.

I think it works in the marketing, though. It wouldn't be a fit with the current design elements of OS X or the resolutions that most screens run at, but I think it looks quite nice when placed on a clean background. That could just be my opinion though... As a matter of fact, it is my opinion. ;)

Does anyone know why the sharing tab was removed in Preferences?

Doesn't seem to be removed to me:

iBooks is in a LOT worse shape than the rest of OSX, so it's possible they would release it as a separate download to 10.9 users at some point after it is released. Right now it's included with the 10.9 install but if it's not ready they can split it out.

That's certainly possible. After all, with ML there were some advertised features that only showed up by the time of 10.8.2 (e.g. some of the Facebook integration). But that isn't a very elegant way to do things. But if it comes down to only iBooks holding up the release, then ya, by all means, split it out.

hopefully, Xerox, HP and co will have Mav-compatible drivers available for the release.
when Lion came out I was having to print off a second machine running SL for a few weeks until they got their sheet together

I'm printing fine to my HP OfficeJet 8600 as well as my old Xerox DocumentCentre 440 at the office in Mavericks.
Actually been printing most of yesterday and today on the HP.

iOS Notifications

Forgive my ignorance here, but I was under the impression that Mavericks was going to be giving iOS notifications right in the OS... is that not a feature I interpreted correctly or is that yet to come. I thought this release might bring that.

The sharing preference to view other users' libraries within the network

Do you mean this? If not then I don't know.
Well I'm able to see my friends libraries on iPhoto, they make a photo stream album and add my email to it and it shows up on my iPhoto under web within iCloud tap, they can even have it on the web if they check the option for it and it will give you a web address to go to I think thats better then being on the same network cause you can be in another state and still see there photos and comment to it..Is that want you talking about?

Not sure if it's been there since 10.1 or something but I just realized now that when you delete a file in Finder, the files slides up smoothly

Shouldn't you instead be hoping that Apple didn't break all kinds of third-party software with 10.9?

Why is there so much repair work foisted on third parties with every Apple OSX release?

I'm surprised they didn't just name it OSX Top Gun or OSX Iceman or OSX Goose.

on DP 7 here and VLC (latest stable version) has no problem whatsoever

some apps that have some problem(s) with DP 5 and DP 6 now working great on DP 7 seems like near to the GM release

Try putting it in full screen in a secondary monitor and accessing the VLC menu. Won't activate.

Not quite. Apple misuses the term GM a bit, what they call GM is actually a GM candidate. It doesn't happen often but there are examples of Apple releasing a build called GM then following it up with a second "GM".

Not quite. Testing continues even after the GM/Public Release is finalized. Show-stopping bugs found before the GM/Public Release is made available to consumers will force the previous GM/Public Release to be struck in favor of a new one. That's why it doesn't happen often... only show-stopping bugs halt the release. That doesn't mean Apple is misusing the term or that the GM is not the Public Release.

I thought Gold Master is still a developer version?

But usually is very close or identical to the public release

No, the GM would not be the GM if it were only "very close". A build may be a release candidate but it's not the GM build until it's the version as released to the public. By definition, if a build differs from the public release then it's not the GM.

Obviously every GM or RTM build is a candidate at first since the possibility always exists a show stopping bug pops up. As far as I know it (recently) only happened once with iOS that a second GM build was issued.

That's what I said.

That doesn't mean Apple is misusing the term or that the GM is not the Public Release.

Except that there have been times when the GM has not been the public release. Sure, it's rare, but it has happened. When Apple uses the term GM it doesn't mean they will release it to the public, it means they hope they will release it to the public. Which is why some people avoid installing the GM and instead wait for confirmation that the GM is the same as the final public release.
