The update, build 14A3429f, can be downloaded from the Mac App Store and through the Mac Developer Center.

I very much doubt that.

The correct build number is 14A329f.

Also, apple ceased providing dmgs to deltas after mountain lion via the mac dev center.

You can update through the mac app store or the direct link in apple's developer forums but NOT through the mac dev center.

Makes you sick? Really? You realize that Mavericks isn't that much different from Mountain Lion, right? Did Moutain Lion make you sick too? I don't understand why people trash Apple's OS releases, and then they don't bother to mention what they don't like. Your comment is worthless unless you justify what you've said. Go back to Panther if you don't like Mavericks and Yosemite... Heck.. go back to System 7 while the rest of us move forward.

And people wonder how the world ends up so polarised - I'll thank you for not including me in 'the rest of us' - I'm sick of people who believe there is only one path forward and that everything outside of a particular opinion would be 'backwards'.

I'm still more disappointed in people than Yosemite - but considering the committee that designed it, it all makes perfect sense. :(

People seem to forget he gave us this:

He gave us much more than this. The whole OS X & iOS UI. What you show here was one of his rare mistakes. The most of his work was brilliant and way ahead of its time. Just compare his work to current Windows, Android and now Mavericks design.

Window resizing

Window resizing is still choppy as hell. I hope they make this "smooth" like scrolling until release. It really is an example of "I can't use this insanely fast hardware to draw 2D graphics at 60fps".

I'd be fine using it in night mode permanently if they'd just fix the creepy Finder icon and give me back the 3D Dock.

in regards to dark mode---its funny you say that i just realized I've been running Dark for probably 2-3 weeks and it just looks, right.

So wait. You declared that the blurred background option made it useless to you without even trying it? Wow...

Well, yes. If the only option was to have a blurred background (which I understood as the case at the time), it would've made Dashboard completely ineffective; hitherto, I've only really used it for making notes and calculations from something else on the screen.

I don't see how me not actually trying it would've made a difference.

In any case, now I understand this only to be an option, and therefore I abjure my previous statement.

Wow. Animations are even A LOT smoother than on any other previous OS X! Impressive. Still lags Stacks animation, though.

First thing I did was run Cinebench and saw no noticeable change. Then ran some other routines and was pleasantly surprised. Apps load faster, files open faster, and dare I say, it feels almost Snow Leopard SN***Y.

That’s with an SSD, I suspect?

According to 9to5mac, Beta 5 was the final beta. Apple will likely release the GM when they have their keynote on September 9.

so explain the handoff of apps and their backwards compatibility? We just won't get to use them until both final releases are out? Also with features like Handoff and Continuity not releasing both on the same day (final release) seems very stupid to me people would be calling in 3 seconds how do i get this to work on my mac or this on my iPhone wheres the continuity button i can just imagine the headaches; so i still think they will.

He might be referring to how slow the Mavericks interface is, not how it looks when it isn't moving. That's the thing about it that made me sick. I don't want my computer to feel old just for an update that changes nothing about the UX other than replacing color labels with tags and adding laggy tabs in Finder. It still feels new with ML, and it has more compatibility with third-party programs than Mavericks does.

The releases can easily be at different times. First of all, not everyone who updates to iOS 8 will update to Yosemite so obviously iOS 8 has to "work" with Mavericks as well. Continuity won't be there if you use it with Mavericks, so what?

It could be just because it's a fresh installation, but I hope it does end up being faster because otherwise, I'm sticking with ML. And yeah, Snow Leopard was really **appy. :)

So with the GOAL of people upgrading to their newest operating systems; TO ME (you hole); it seems stupid to not release them at the same time when the whole point to both new systems is that oh THEY WORK TOGETHER; just as it seems stupid to me to release DP6 and not Beta 6. I, unlike you, dc if I am wrong I am simply questioning their marketing if they are to not release at the same time. Some people.
