Nothing condescending about it. If you mean Yosemite, you write Yosemite. Plain and simple. Now if you want to talk about needless and inappropriate, I'd have to say your "I don't like Mavericks" post takes the cake. If you aren't willing to say what you don't like, you are just wasting space.

No typos allowed! :rolleyes:

Anyone else wish the Iconfactory would get a chance to do the OSX icons once in their lifetime? Those guys understand the soul of the mac and have come up with amazing freeware replacements over the years.

Any word if Time Machine is operational again? The backup functionality has tended to stall in prior betas.

Answering my own question: Time Machine is still borked, stalling on "preparing backup." I hope this is rectified soon. We're several releases into the Developer Preview and this is a basic and longstanding function of the operating system.

Please don't spread FUD, the background is not blurred if the Dashboard is in the desktop overlay mode.

Thanks, you answered my question if it also blurs when in overlay mode and not in space mode. Guy was spreading FUD as you mentioned as usual these days.

Did you ever replace them using Get Info? If so: choose get info on a drive, select the icon and press backspace to remove the custom icon.

Nothing jumped out at me...
Image

On my Mavericks iMac, I do not show the Install OS X Updates checkbox.

maybe that is it?

Those new desktop images are really nice. I've always been a big fan of most of their stock wallpapers.

It is very interesting that an iOS Beta 6 did not go live at the same time.

For real especially because HandOff of Apps is not backwards compatible so right now my iOS devices are handing off apps but OS X isn't. I really think something went wrong and it will be released tomorrow.

iOS beta program usually ends about a month before the new iPhone release/GM release. With that being September 9th, no more betas are expected.

OS X Yosemite, however, won't be released until at least October, meaning the Developer Preview program goes on a bit longer than the iOS beta program. This is normal.

I understand that. But the fact that handoff of apps is not backwards compatible it does not make sense not to seed ios 8 beta 6 I would imagine handoff of apps is not 100% bug free and this is their key feature I can't imagine just not being able to use it for a few weeks just because basically.

That's true because you have to be running the same version don't you for Handoff to work?

So DP6 and beta 6.

Hm. That has me thinking now, maybe something did go wrong, hopefully we'll see beta 6 tomorrow!

I went to look on my current Mavericks Dashboard to see what the existing background looked like, and I saw the grey pattern as well as a dim version of the windows on my main screen.

Thought it was a bit of transparency but instead was just Retina Macbook Pro image retention.

Right. I'm the thinkahh. :apple::apple::D

I'm not seeing new hard drive / portable drive icons on my end. Is there a way to reset the icon cache?

These commands worked for me:

Code:
sudo find /private/var/folders/ -name com.apple.dock.iconcache -exec rm {} \;
sudo find /private/var/folders/ -name com.apple.iconservices -exec rm -rf {} \;
sudo mv /Library/Caches/com.apple.iconservices.store com.apple.ic
