for $1899

Just ordered my 12 inch Powerbook!!!

OK:

I've been waiting for the revisions to be released since late January and could not wait an additional 3 weeks for my Univerisity Computer Store to get them in stock. Ordered from the Apple ed store and it will ship in 3-5 days. Got the bigger drive and will get additional memory. This is my 5th Mac but my first laptop. Can't wait.

So now I'm looking for a sleeve for my Powerbook so that I can carry it to meetings. Any recommendations? I also do a lot of training and want a remote. My office has a key span remote which suxxs. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Joe

iBook would be great as long as you do not need/want PCMCIA card interface, dual screen for presentation, or back lit (if the PB has it) keyboard.
Recommend you max out the RAM in your iBook within reason cost wise.
Have you been to an Apple or other retail store to touch & feel each? check out the feel of the keyboards, pick them up for weight comparison, etc.? Don't buy blindly looking at specs alone.

already shipping

I ordered a 15" w/ SuperDrive on Monday and it's already shipping, scheduled to arrive on Thursday. I know these updates are relatively minor, but I'm glad that we don't have to wait weeks or months between the announcement and the actual product being there, as has happened on several occasions. My eyes will be very happy to upgrade from my hopelessly dim (3 year old) 12" iBook screen.

Have you checked into repair of the "back light" for your screen? the cost may be minimal and will breathe new life into the old girl. How are its pixels?

With improved level 2 cache making the CPU much faster & far more efficient, availability of SuperDrive in iBook, and bump in speed for CPU and for SuperDrive from 2x to 4x, I'd say the update is anything but minor. And, considering the pricing, the deals are awesome.

Congrats on the 15" purchase! Did you get it with backlit keyboard?

When does your order say it will ship on or before. I did a 15in 1.5 GHZ BTO yesterdaywith the 5400RPM and 128Video RAM options, and it had said 3-5 biz days, and now says on or before 4/27/04 which is in that general ballpark. I'm just curious to see what other ship dates look like from orders yesterday.

Itunes Help

How do I convert the songs that I bought on itunes to mp3 files? Help would be greatly appreciated. Still waiting on my new mini ipod so in the meantime have to use my old mp3 player. Thanks!

I ordered the same configuration and mine says ship on or before 4/26/04. I'm hoping they are like dell and ship a lot earlier then they say it will.

Dang! Mine's the same config, though mine is like 'eazyc10' and says 'on or before 4/26/04'.

Looks like a lot of people ordered the same as we did.

Ordered mine yesterday. Shipped already

I ordered a standard low end 15" AlBook from the developer's program store yesterday. It shipped from Shanghai China and is now sitting in Anchorage, AK due to arrive thursday in Baltimore. Chose standard shipping but got Fedex 2 day by default. Halfway around the world in 2 days. Cool.

Bummer. I have ordered mine within the hour they posted the updates, paid extra for the express 2-day shipping, and it has'nt shipped yet. I'm ordering it from Apple Canada.

The Order satus still says that it's scheduled to ship On or before 04/22/2004 so they're still on schedule. Guess I can't wait to see it on my desk.

Yup, mine is the same config and it says on or before 4/26/04. What do you mean by eazyc10?

I've known I wanted to get a PowerBook for about a month now....someone turned me on to these rumor sites (macrumors, macosrumors, appleinsider, thinksecret) and I've been checking em like a hooker on crack. I decided to wait it out and I was rewarded by yesterday's updates - here's what I just ordered:

PowerBook 1.33GHz (15.2" TFT)
256MB DDR333 SDRAM - 1 SO-DIMM 065-4859
AirPort Extreme Card 065-4820
1.33GHz PowerPC G4 with 64MB Graphics Memory 065-4811
80GB Ultra ATA drive @ 5400 rpm 065-5068
Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) 065-4824
Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English 065-4819
APP for PowerBook (w/ or w/o display) - Enrollment Kit M8853LL/A
HP DeskJet 5150 Inkjet Printer T7432LL/A $99.00
($99 rebate on the printer)

I'll grab a 512MB stick of RAM from Crucial to end up with 768MB RAM total.

I have a 4x DVD burner already in my Windows machine, and with dual layer burners on the horizon I plan to get one of those in an external firewire housing to burn with the PB.

This for a bag:

And some of these so the lid is a-ok:

I'm not exactly a switcher - I used to have a MacPlus for years and then had a MacLC all through high school. Highest OS I've used is System 7, so OS X is gonna be great. Ever since college I've been on PCs, but have a bit of *nix experience with some shell accounts.

Can't wait!!

I ordered a 15" SuperDrive with 128MB Video Ram, 5400rpm and 1GB ram (1 slot) 5 hours after release.

Do you know if the screen has the problem of the marks from the keys? I thought they fixed that. I guess if they havent im gonna pick up on some of these also. Seems like a good investment, but after thinking about it, does applecare cover those marks on the screen from the keys?

For my current ibook I was worried about key marks on the screen which I had dealt with with previous laptops. I just used that foam insert that came with the machine. Works like a charm and it's free.

I'm ordering a 12" ibook to replace my 12" pbook (867mhz/256mbram) after dropping it and cracking the screen. My question is about ram, and how much of it I should get. I use my computer mostly for the web, email, word, etc. I was planning on getting 512, but would I notice a difference if i went for 768? Basically what I am asking, for my needs, should I shell out extra $$ for an extra 256 mb ram, or will 512 suffice?

THanks!
