I must say the app looks really nice. Gives me hope that we'll see improved stock apps in iOS 8. But Apple, please release 7.1 already! It's far, far overdue.

7.1 will be released when it's ready... If they rushed it you'd complain and taking too long means more complaining...

I've worked on 7.1 Beta 1-5, let me tell you - You don't want it until it's ready...

At this point they are hardly rushing anything. 7.1 has been in beta longer than 7.0. I've been a longtime Apple fan and 7.0.X is the worse release by far I can remember. I thought Android was a buggy OS with occasional errors and app crashes but iOS 7 takes the cake. I love my 5S but I'm VERY ready for the stability every other iOS release has had for me. This is SIX months of a terrible user experience. 2 5S and an iPad Air. All 3 get multiple Safari crashes everyday, random resets, ect. Apple should be working as hard as they can to fix this ASAP.

No no no, this isn't what I wanted to read!

It's safe to say iOS 7.1 isn't coming soon. Although perhaps it's still going to be released by the 31st of March due to the in-app purchase purchase policies.

Damn!

----------

why are you guys so upset about not releasing iOS 7.1? it's only 7.1....jeez.

Not another person. iOS 7.1 is needed update by many users. This update will fix the springboard crashes that A LOT of people are having. Ha. "it's only 7.1". You kind of people make me laugh!

Ugh. Stop being so awkwardly condescending.

Of course he wants it when it's ready. He wants it because rumours were that it'd be ready in the first week of March.

Second, 7.0 has been out for almost 8 months with crappy performance. Taking 8 months is not 'rushing'.

That's why this site is called MacRumors and not MacFacts. Lots of people just speculating on whether something will or will not be released, and when it will be released. And what features it will have.

I don't have a problem with 7.0.6, myself.

Just under the wire

I actually just updated to 7.0.6 this morning to avoid the SSL issue and keep the jailbreak. I was spurred by the reports of 7.1 coming out for SXSW. Looks like Gruber was full of it.

Cccontrols, iCaughtU, tetherme, etc are too good for me to give up

Hahahahahaha people are in freak out mode over a .1 update.I don't get it either.

Oh, do I really have to explain myself again? It doesn't matter if it's a x.1 update. The fact is, is that it will fix the annoying bugs that are in iOS 7 and people are getting annoyed that Apple are taking this long over it. You'd want the update if your device kept restarting everyday let me tell you that right now.

Bless ya'.

Apple needs to release it ASAP. Tired of safari crashes.

I wonder if Tim or Jony's iPad crashes all the time? Hate to sound cliche, but Jobs never would have allowed this. Even my mom (who got her first iPad last Mother's Day) asked me about the crashing and believe me, that's saying something...

Apple should fix this....

I'm not sure why anyone thought the app would need iOS 7.1. It's essentially a video playing app and iOS 7.0 plays video just fine.

It all started from a single tweet from Gruber who said his sources (usually reliable) told him the app needs iOS 7.1.

There are a lot of changes to the Media APIs in 7.1, that's one of the reasons it seem feasible.

Good old John Gruber, looks like someone at Apple just made him look like a tube!

I tend to find betas much more stable than their previous stable release for most software.

Then, you haven't handled iOS5 b1 and b2 back in 2011 :) It was pretty dreadful on the iPad 1. Which is understandable, after all - iOS5 was a major overhaul with plenty of functionality. (Much more than iOS7, which is more of a surface change, compared to the new true features of iOS5 compared to iOS4.)

7.0.6 is, while, crash-wise not excellent, pretty much usable. I only have 2-3 crashes a day on my rMini. That's significantly more than on my also-7.0.6 iPad 3 but still acceptable.

2-3 crashes a day is acceptable? No it's not. I've been an Apple fan because of stability and if 2-3 crashes a day is now acceptable other platforms are looking way better.

How does it crash every day? I never had my iPhone nor my iPad crash every day :/.

Well ours do. Get a few tabs open or try to load a website that is 'busy'. Our iPad Air gets 4-5hrs of use everyday or more. Maybe if you use yours less you'll have less issues. We get soft resets on it a couple times a week.

iOS 7 is a joke stability wise to the iPhone 5 I had on iOS 6. And the 4, 3GS, and 3G I had before that. Let's not forget the early issues like iMessages on iOS 7. Over $2k worth of current gen hardware that runs like **** compared to every iOS version prior to date.

Obviously iOS7 wasn't and still isn't ready. I don't mind waiting for features and improvements as long as we're left to work with something that actually WORKS!

I'll be happy when the "cutting edge" and "forward thinking" company called Apple provides us with lossless music and starts playing with no questions asked other formats of music beyond their own and MP3.

Kodak created Instamatic Cameras long ago as a vehicle to sell their film. Kodak also over time provide more types of film. Maybe Apple should get the clue.
