I think an OTA update must check the version number for differences, and an iTunes update checks the build number, which is why you can't OTA update if you're already on 14.2. Updated this morning, no immediate differences, although I didn't have any problems to start off with!

I am running 14.2 on the 12 Pro but plugging into the Mac told me there was a newer 14.2 which it is installing now.
Same here! Kind of weird that there is no OTA when you check for update on the iPhone. Maybe that'll be available later today.

Odd bug after this update, at least on my end with Face ID.

I was at the store, face mask on, sunglasses on, hat on, I took the phone out of my pocket - ready to manually enter passcode - and it BRIEFLY showed Face ID, lock icon unlocked theres my home screen.

This did it MULTIPLE times in a row, a few times it did prompt the Face ID.
Again, back to quickly unlocking phone.

I'll delete my face and reenter it, see if this works.

Beats me! It didn't do that on the OLDER 14.2 🙄

Thanks! I will wait for update 14.7 before updating anything , anywhere if I do not have issues
I just risk only more problems

14.2.1 is said to fix an unresponsive lock screen on iPhone 12 Mini... fun thing I had just that happen on my iPhone 12 Pro today.

Apparently this is not a bug, I started a new thread and someone replied with a few other posts that Face ID unlocking WITH mask on is a new thing? The phone will "learn" your face?

I had no idea, unlocking the phone with a facemask was a first this morning so this is completely new to me!
Oh well, after the face reset, I guess it will have to "learn" it again?

I wonder if this is the fix for the text notification bug that’s affection so many people
since they decided to only update the 12 models, i was legitimately peeved. I have an X and none of my messages, both text or imessage, have been coming through. i’ve tried literally every suggestion i could find both on here and on the apple community pages. the ONLY things that has fully fixed it for me is Settings > Notifications > Messages > then turn “Banner style” to persistent. it’s given me vibrations, banners, and badges all back. I’m relieved yet also irritated that apple hasn’t fixed it themselves yet.

hey guys! i posted this in a response but figured i’d make a main response as well. I have an X (can’t afford an upgrade right now for all you snarky people saying to just get a new phone lol) on 14.2 and i’ve gotten no message notifications at all, both text and imessage. No vibrate, no banners, no badges, nothing. i tried a million different suggestions, including a hard reset and restore of my device. the only thing that actually has been working perfectly is after i went into Settings > Notifications > Messages > change Banner Style to persistent. everything is working for me now message-wise, including vibrations and badges. no idea why lol but I will take it. Hope this can help for anybody still having the issue!

I finally got this update to install the other day then later the same day 14.2.1 showed up. Neither has fixed the iMessage problems unfortunately...
