What happened to the <save to reading list> button by the URL field? Now I have to <shift><command>D to do the same thing ?

Yes, it appears to be fixed. I saw that bug the other day, when I had two windows open; the second window would open links in blank tabs.
Thanks! It appears to work correctly now. Some sites I use for work were totally broken without that fix.

If this had been proper tested it would never been released, regardless of the actual designs something went really wrong on the design process, user interface design and software is bit by bit getting worse since Ive’s departure.

What is the Safari 15.1 for Big Sur build number?

Thanks

I’m having serious problems with Safari 15.1 for Big Sur. The app freezes and it is impossible even to reach the preference pane.

I’ve already installed macOS 11.6.1 twice, this time is the third time I install macOS. Just after the fresh install I update Safari, and then I cannot use it anymore. It is beyond frustrating.

Wow I cant believe Apple is doing this. I am surprised but also not surprised but also surprised... didnt expect this. not only did they remove the tabs with spaces between them on the separate address bar mode but the bugs from safari 15.0 are still there. click a link and it opens with your homepage unless u set new tabs to open to empty page. I need links clicked to open even if I have homepage set to open in new tabs. very annoying. I'm sad and angry at all this.

Now I’m glad I didn’t install 15.1

But I’m still annoyed that I had to wipe my hard drive and install big sur again to get rid of safari 15.0

I want the opposite - compact tabs* but without the colour matching.

*although I would prefer they look like tabs rather than buttons
You can have that - turn on compact and turn off "colour matched" in the advanced settings

even the hardware designs are getting worse since Ive left.

I'm not sure about Big Sur build no. but this is the one for Monterey: Version 15.1 (17612.2.9.1.20)
Trying to guess Safari build number for macOS Big Sur, should be:

Safari Version 15.1 (16612.2.9.1.30, 16612)

Am I right?

Thanks

Apple today released Safari 15.1 for macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina, giving Mac users who do not have macOS Monterey installed access to the latest Safari features.

Safari 15.1 reintroduces the previous tab design that was available prior to Safari 15. With Monterey and Safari 15, Apple introduced a new "Compact" look that changed the design of the tabs and unified them with the URL bar, but many people were not fond of that design.

In Safari 15.1, Apple undid those design changes and returned Safari to its pre-Monterey look, doing away with the updated design and the feature that blended the top bar in Safari with the background color of websites. Those who liked the new design can still enable it in Safari preferences, but the old design is the default.

Safari can be downloaded on machines running macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina by going to System Preferences > Updates. If you have macOS Monterey 12.0.1 installed, you already have Safari 15.1.

The tabs do not load the pages when they are in background !
Youtube always open in low resolution (480 or 720 p)
Come on Apple !!!!!
