My safari setup is 5 windows on screen
window one top left Tech websites and blogs about 25+ tabs open
Window 2 middle left News and politics sites and blogs 25+ tabs open
window 3 bottom left Online bank website.
Window 4 Top right Boinc project websites and other misc websites around 20 open at any one time.
Window 5 Alaska volcano eruption of MT Redoubt webcams other volcano webcams(Hawaii)
In the beta 4.0 you could croup the tabs in the list and then switch around the list using the >> symbol at the end of the tab list. all the tabs would switch to a group around the tab you selected. this way I could move from one set of blogs on one topic to a set showing news sites to then move the set showing to just those blogs. the tech window 1 would have tabs grouped as favorites followed by blogs followed by review sites I could move the tabs shown to have one group showing at a time making it easy to switch back and forth in the group now the >> symbol only changes the last tab showing. So now if I want to group tabs together I need to double or more the number of open windows. this sucks big time. The >> symbol behavior has reverted to safari 3.0.

*WHOOSH*

Things I love in Safari 4:
- Tabs are back where they should be!
- Faster / snappier performance overall.
- Better toolbar customization, home / new tab / downloads - nice

Things that could be better:
- Ability to turn off Top Sites, forever...

Overall, Safari 4 is a winner and it's now back as my preferred browser.

That loading graphic has got to change...NOW. It sticks out like nobody's business, especially on pages with a scroll bar on the right.

Times like this make me wish that Apple allowed a small amount of customization.

I don't know if anyone pointed this out, they probably did, but there's a new tab sign still at the very end of the tab bar.. I just noticed it just figured I'd point it out.

It has plenty of toolbar buttons, the beta didn't have nearly as many

why is it such an imposition to SAVE TABS when exiting? This version blows, when used in windows it now looks like some horrible amalgamation between apple and microsoft UIs. What i liked about safari on windows was it gave that apple theme, with the gray windows, the fonts like apple, now its totaly sold out to microsoft. I want safari 3 back, ill stick with chrome till then

Why would you double-click when you could use Command-T instead?

there are at least fifty ways to get a new tab, but usually use right click, new tab, I know it's not the fastest, but I'm used to it.

Tabs on Top

I came here to see if anyone knew the fate of "Tabs on Top" and it seems as though other users have had that same "vanishing" feeling since installing Safari 4. I was surprised, actually, to hear that most people were disappointed with the new (old) tab alignment. A much ballyhooed feature when the beta first arrived, most users initially pooh-poohed the idea. After never using tabs in previous versions of Safari, I actually got used to them that way. I'm hoping we'll reach some sort of compromise. In the mean time, it seems some users are busy uncovering their fate within Safari's code...bwhahahaha. Good work, all!

Can you use the three-finger gesture on the trackpad to go from the top of a page to the bottom, and vice versa? I thought that you could, but it's not working. It's one of my favorite trackpad features in Firefox 3.5 beta.

For the first time, I can actually agree with the "Safari seems snappier" statement! It's a welcome addition, considering that before I was getting beachballs with everything.

Nice and speedy.

But, why?

I found the progress bar extremely useful - user feedback on the page loading.

Why did Apple remove it?

I'm glad the tabs are back in the regular place, I really didn't like them at the top of the window. Shame there's no configuration option for people who liked the tabs as per betas.

I miss being able to bring up a new tab on the top right corner, but the custom button works. The interface looks darker, which i don't like.. but other than that, i like this more than the Beta.

I kinda was hoping for tabs on the bottom, and it happened. I'm happy. :)

I used Safari 4 Buddy to remove taps on top and a few other things. So far I like Safari 4 but I miss the progress bar in the URL window. Can't really tell if anything is faster. Ad Blocker still works tho.
