Damn, I love Safari 4. It is actually waaaayyyy snappier than the beta. The tabs are back at the bottom, which is a good think IMO. I often accidently dragged the wondow one pixel instead of clicking a tab.

The little progress bar is nice too. At least I get a visible response when I click something. Also, it hasn't locked up when loading another tab. Good stuff, got get it!

Tabs on Top

Am I the only one her who is getting a little more tired of "Apples" every day.
What about letting the USER choose where to have their tabs??!!
This is so ignorant, it really makes me sick. Im really looking forward to a future Chrome. Chrome comes with Tabs on Top, but Im sure they will support plug-ins for having tabs in "last century mode". Cause that's what it is!

I HATE the stop/reload button in the URL bar. I don't want to move all the way over to the other side to do those things. It doesn't make any sense.
What doesn't make any sense is why your cursor would even be on the left end of the address bar to begin with. I haven't touched the forward/back buttons for almost a year.

sigh Apple. I really liked the tabs on top -- you could pop in single Safari windows into another one to set open 2 tabs.

Also, the "reopen last closed window" isn't highlighting for me. It never worked like Firefox's did, and that was one of my biggest gripes~

There are so many reasons why tabs on top was a bad idea. I am happy that it was dropped.

Let me fix your post for you:

There are so many reasons why tabs on top was a bad idea for me personally. I am happy that it was dropped, but I wish they would put in an option for people that liked the tabs on the top.

There, all better now.

problems with Safari 4

it looks like Apple is trying to provide PC experience with this one:
- installation hanged and required a hard reset
- it took forever to start it after re-installing it the second time
- safari crashed (force quit only with a bug message to Apple)
- restart safari, very slow
- a nifty feature of taps on top disappeared
- custom icons disappear after Safari restart, WTF?

Has anyone else been having problems with facebook or yahoomail? they wont load for me. im very dissapointed.

That loading strip looks like something a 12-year-old would come up with after reading some half-assed 'Terminal For Dummies' book for 20 minutes.

Still, these buttons are new aren't they?

Aren't they???

Safari 4 Customize Toolbar Problem

Can anybody make a persistent change to their Toolbar, e.g. add/remove extra icons? I can make the changes, but then they disappear after 1sec of reopening of Safari. Weird!

I'm fine with the tabs not on top - it was weird anyway and I was always afraid i was going to close a window by accident.

But can you Command or right click in the titlebar like in safari 3 to get the site hierarchy below the page you are viewing? I use feature that all the time.

I just upgraded my PowerBook G4. I love Safari 4. It's as fast as hell on this!

What happened to the site-specific browser feature?

The what?
