Quick search on Amazon. Lots of battery case below 50 bucks. Yes, both this Apple battery case and Mophie one are overpriced.

small price to pay for warranty and it working...I just bought 2 xs max cases from amazon and had to return both the same day for problems.

Any reason why the don't make the battery the full height of the case, and make it a bit thinner to get the same capacity?
Seems like an odd design...

I'd almost like that. But even that would make Steve turn in his grave.
Still looks like a fall protection for toddlers.

Would make sense, but the bulge though odd looking actually makes it more comfortable in the hand.

It’s so bizarre to me that they go to all that trouble to make the phones thin and light and then sell this monstrosity that blows the design completely to hell.

Yeah, if only they made the iPhone thicker and increased the battery size almost every year since the iPhone 6. That’s what they should do.

You are comparing Apple's to oranges (see what I did there?). You really should learn about what this smart battery case can do, even compared to the Mophie. This is NOT a typical battery case.

Who really needs this....is it that hard to find opportunities to charge during the day. A small battery back is a much more cost effective solution.

I do agree. I'd rather carry a power bank of some sort in the bag just for emergencies, than make the phone bigger forever. Learnt this after owning a battery case. It made my iphone 6 unwieldy... I can't imagine how un-ergonomic the max phones will become with these on.

We want more for less ... happiness never obtained
We don't want more for less, we want more for reasonable.

As usual, many haters here don‘t even know how the Smart Battery Case is different from other battery cases. They just see the hump and the price and start spewing. Please, folks, educate yourselves. Here is an in-deep review of the previous version https://www.imore.com/smart-battery-case
Who cares? It looks like crap!

I was just looking at the design of the case they released in 2016. The speakers at the bottom were covered. I’m a little concerned that’s what they did here. There was a little port, but that’s about it. Tried talking to someone at Apple, but the wait time was insane just to ask.

Well, it looks better than the last one. Not sure if that’s saying much but it’s alright.

I’ve noticed my XS has like twice the battery life of my X. It’s 11pm and I’m at 65%. Looking at my last 10 days I’m averaging around 50% per day. Wonder if it has something to do with using my iPad more in the evening, using my Apple Watch more after upgrading from Series 0 to 4 around the same time, or having a wireless charging mount in my car (though I bought this only a few months after getting my X and my commute is only 15 minutes). Either way I can’t personally imagine needing a battery case with an XS or newer.

It would be nice for the back to be magnetic for the car mount but doubt they would incorporate that as it may impact the wireless charging :(

You could always put a magnet between the phone and the case. That’s what I’ve done for months now. I’d much rather have a magnetic mount in the car as opposed to wireless charging.
