Because it’s better designed, aesthetically and functionally. It shows a battery icon in iOS and the silicone material feels premium compared to cheaper cases. Since it’s a hump that doesn’t consume the entire backside of your phone, it’s also probably lighter too. It also supports wireless charging and of course it has the Apple logo, which some will laugh at, but its a touch that I can certainly appreciate.

For those that don’t care about these “niceties”, by all means go for the cheaper alternatives and be happy, but personally I would still pay more for the Apple battery case myself because I do care about those little things.

I really needed on on my 7 and loved it . The battery on my XS is very good so I wonder if I will need one ;-)
Anyway , I'm traveling to the US at the end of this month and will pick one out there if needed after the flight over .

I’m sure these have a valid used case, but I think The XS Max is already pretty big and heavy. This product brings new meaning to the term “bricking your iPhone“.

Yeah my Xs MAX is huge... with a Sena case on it I think it's as big as I'd want it to be. Would love to make it last even longer but already it pulls down my pants (with a belt on) in my back pocket when I walk. That and I'm lucky to get under 80% in a day's use with my usage.

They literally just stick a battery on the back of a case. I'm sure they could modify the design of the battery so it fits the entire length of the case.
yes but then it wouldn’t bend on top to easily insert and remove the phone

I was wondering when they were going to release the... iGor :D

Wish they also made one for the X

I would have bought one for my vacation back in September if one had been available. Instead I bought a third party one that isn't as well integrated.

The price is higher than I remember paying back in the iPhone 6 days.

I'd like to know why they can't just make a phone that does NOT need to have this extra battery case added??? I don't use a case and do NOT want to start using one now. This will ruin the looks of my SX MAX in GOLD

*XS* ;-}

I get a full day easily out of my XS Max and i am quite a heavy user. Some days when i go to bed,i still have 25-30% left. You must have a dodgy one.

Go on vacation sometime where you need to use the maps app to navigate the subway. Take many photos. One day I only had about 20% battery life left when I returned to the hotel after 10:30 pm. That was with a third party battery pack. A separate battery charger. AND taking an old iPhone 7+ along (with no cell service) to use its camera too.

the way that this hump works is that it really helps you grip the case better.

same design and more expensive... Apple learned nothing...

what apple did learn is that there are millions of people, from at least iPhone 6s days, who love this case.

Thanks Apple. Unfortunately I will not buy any iPhone for at least two years.
... and no MacBook, regardless of price, if you do not get rid of that keyboard.

PS: I really hope one single Apple employee reads this.

PPS: Typing on a 2008 MacPro 3,1, ElCapitan. Cannot use Xcode anymore. So your loss.

I hate that weird bulge too but I believe it exists so that the phone’s antenna performance doesn’t get affected.

Awesome, ordered mine.

Most battery cases are just not reliable. Work for a few months then dead. I’ve had poor luck with mophie but their support is admirably good. Excited to get this for my max.

agree.
especially for this case.
apple or mophie.

this is a great reply.
there is no one who owns one of these for previous models who doesn't like the feel/hand touch of these cases.
really a joy to hold.

Actually makes me more interested in upgrading from my 7+ now.. I love accessories and especially if they are integrated like this is.

Ah ok. I think my hatred for it stems from the fact the first generation of battery cases were released around the time Apple made some bizarre/crap design choices - like the original way to charge an Apple Pencil or how you recharge the Magic Mouse 2
