They literally just stick a battery on the back of a case. I'm sure they could modify the design of the battery so it fits the entire length of the case.

They do it this way for a couple reasons. Keep the cell signal strong. Funny thing about most battery cases is that they hurt cell signal and make the phone work harder to keep a good signal, using more battery. Probably also allows them to help kee the phones from throttling due to high temps.

As usual, many haters here don‘t even know how the Smart Battery Case is different from other battery cases. They just see the hump and the price and start spewing. Please, folks, educate yourselves. Here is an in-deep review of the previous version https://www.imore.com/smart-battery-case

Mophie have a battery case out for the Xs, XR and Xs Max that gives access to the lightning port, similar battery life and is cheaper.

I think its nicely designed and priced right. reminds me of the design out of 2001: Space Odyssey. It's functional and doesn't hide what it is, yet works well with the device.

Comparable devices sell for a similar amount with a lot less design thought put into them, so I think the price is fair.

Since when did MacRumors become an apple-hater page? what is wrong with all of you? Maybe a lot of you commenters would be happier at a different site than just gang-banging on Apple all day long at MacRumors.

-or- I'm on the wrong site. might be time to move somewhere else that has sensible fans who don't lose their **** over a simple battery case.

yeah yeah, I won't let the door hit me on the way out etc etc

I *honestly* don't understand how people get such good battery lives on their iPhones. I have been an iPhone user since 2011 and have ALWAYS had to charge every night. I see people posting they are on 'Day 2 without charging and still at 47%!!!'.

I will never understand how that is even possible? I guess I have 'too many settings' enabled? Anyone else feel me?

Because of their integration and honestly I had the first battery case they made and I actually really enjoyed it. I like the materials that Apple uses and the integration with the iPhone.

Fair enough. Mophies chargers/battery cases are excellent quality too though no doubt about it.

Apple got rid of headphone jacks to sell bluetooth headphones. I'm worried about them trying to sell battery cases now.

Oh buddy, where have you been? The best way to get a comment upvoted on MacRumors has, for a while now, been to make an Apple-bashing remark, even if it doesn't actually make any sense.

I wouldn't let it bother you too much. The only way I can get 5+ days on my iPhone Xs MAX (and have on my 6+, 6s+, and 8+) was to ....... not use it. lol.

Just turn it up side down and grab your iPad or use your MacBook. iPhones last a long time when not used (at least mine do).
