I was wondering the same thing. Especially when it is the family saying to other family members. Who the heck says "Happy holidays Grandpa!" when there is a "holiday" tree and such all around the living room!
Who the heck says it..... Politically Correct Companies and People that can't offend anyone anymore.... That's Who! :)

They should title the ad... How to create Zombies.

That’s very cynical

I understand the whole “happy holidays” thing when the goal is to cover all your bases and be considerate of all the holidays that different people/cultures are celebrating.

What I don’t understand is when people (and marketing campaigns) say “holiday” in place of “Christmas” when the only holiday being referenced is Christmas. It’s not considerate or inclusive, it’s just stupid. The “holiday” in this commercial is so obviously Christmas, and doesn’t resemble any other holiday. So why on earth don’t they just say “Christmas”? It’s irksome. Just say it! Geez.
it was actually Hanukkah. The dog is jewish. ;-)

Noisy child. Give them an iPad.
Bored spouse. Give them an iPad.
Argumentative Grandkids. Give them an iPad.
Take vintage footage from a legacy video and have all the tools for a child to make it happen. Magical.
Once this is all done, give grandpa an iPad to make him sad and remind him who he won’t have after the holidays.
All the great makings of what the holidays are about.
Kids with faces in devices, parents not being parents, and spending large amounts of money from the fruity company on your loved ones to feel special.
🤣 solid marketing IMHO!

True. Better everyone should sit around and bicker while watching racist movies on TV, like in the old days.

This ad brought me to tears.

Two years ago, my father got just two days before Christmas the diagnosis cancer. He died only five months later.

Over the years, we could visit each other only a few times a year. But thanks to the iPad we managed to share a lot of memories.

And now my mother can watch pictures and movies of her grandchildren even though she is not very tech savvy.

Thank you, Apple, for making such great technology.

Gahh!! All the feels.

Slightly awkward coming from a massive corporation intent on making boatloads of revenue over the holidays, but oh well.

Apple isn’t the first to come out with a sappy/touchy holiday commercial or commercial in general. Every corporation no matter what they do has the intention of making a ton of money by selling us products and services. Nothing awkward about it.

LOL, cause everyone is too thin skinned today... You Read my comment wrong, now I've been offended and feel that was a sexist interpretation.

Still love Christmas Vacation, The Grinch, Nightmare before Christmas, A Christmas Story.... I'm sure we can all find a way to make them feel oppressed too.... 🤣🤣🤣

The kids had access to all the equipment needed to digitize Grandpa's VHS tape and then transfer the file to their iPad? It's possible that the girls filmed the TV with the iPad camera, but that part of the Christmas card doesn't look handheld to me. If they were that comfortable using a tripod with the proper mounting hardware, a video capture card and RCA cables to a Mac/PC, and video editing software, then I'm not buying the parents' reaction either.

(Yes I realize that I'm refusing to willfully suspend disbelief) :D

I just think they should have used a video that happened to be embedded in an old email instead.

Phil Beastall, "Love Is A Gift".
It's kind of hard to find an un-messed with version, but it's worth a search.

I thought they were going to make some ok boomer memes using the iPad. Would’ve been very insensitive.

Throughout the video I was like, “this is why gen Z will be absolutely worthless!” Then I cried when I saw Nana😔

I agree. Our culture’s obsession with not “offending” anyone is crazy. It’s Christmas. Just because it’s a Christian holiday doesn’t mean it’s “offensive.” Pretty much everyone celebrates Christmas, even if it’s not in the Christian sense. I understand saying “holidays” if you’re referring to the sort of general time of Thanksgiving leading up to Christmas and New Year’s, but this is getting ridiculous.

It's clearly recorded off the monitor - you can see the scan lines. And iPhone's video stabilization is more than good enough to produce that clip.

Everyone does it. ... but that doesn’t make an emotionally manipulative commercial any better.

Anywho, I’m clearly in the minority because these types of commercials keep coming so they must be effective.
