Apple Releases tvOS 14 With Picture in Picture, 4K YouTube Videos, HomeKit Secure Video Integration and More

Just a FYI but 4K enabled iOS/iPadOS YouTube app was updated 21 hours ago, version 15.37.4. That has been working for last 4 betas.

However the tvOS Youtube app, is the old 2.04.06 from April 29, 2020 as checked yesterday, doesn't do 4K. So sad, waiting on Google. ;)
Well, they finally fixed backup and sync on Big Sur. Just don’t hold your breath , but they might get to it

Waiting to see if PIP supports 2 streaming apps - which would let me watch a gme on ESPN and CBS/ABC/YTTV concurrently.

Google abandoned Apple TVs.

check the source on the developer menu. Google filters out the 4K version when safari detected

We're talking about the YouTube app, not Safari browser. As far as I'm aware, there is no developer menu for the YouTube app.

Not true I'm Having the same issue latest version of YouTube. Videos I know for certain are 4K but still max out at 1080p.I have an 11 pro Max
So all yesterday 4K worked on my phone then boom today it down not I am going to have to point the blame at google for sure now!!

Wonder if the new atv will feature the A14 chip ( gaming will get a massive upgrade ) , maybe that's why it's taken so long to update ??

Has anyone been able to instant switch to Apple TV? I have the Apple TV HD (Not 4K). Is this feature restricted with my device? Also, I have not been able to connect two sets of AirPods (Pro and 2) to the Apple TV for audio sharing. Is that limited to the Apple TV 4K?

I see only this
Spatial audio for AirPods Pro

Apps

tvOS would be something for the future. This was shown at WWDC 2020

Correct, spatial audio isn’t supported on the Apple TV.

I wish I was surprised, but Apple TV has always been little more than a hobby for Apple. Though, it does sort of boggle the mind that Apple built a “pro” feature primarily for people to watch movies on their phone, all while leaving the TV completely unaddressed.

Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I don’t think I’ve ever watched a movie on my iPhone. Maybe an iPad. But I’d really prefer to watch a movie on the TV. Weird, I know. :p

So for me, this is really one of those features that sounds really cool, but I’ll never actually use once.

If it’s on the tv itself, how is appletv involved?
I mean on the apple tv itself 🙃
The point is it’s not streaming so it is definitely not internet problem. Before the update it ran fluently, now it’s not 😕
The video settings are the same and it drives me crazy

Google filters out 4K video when detecting Apple devices. Stupid google
Same here
My YouTube iOS app is not showing 4k.
Yes I'm on 14.
iPhone 11 Pro Max
Yes apps all updated.

What am I missing?
Same here .... no 4K in YT-App on iPad and iPhone 11, not even on TV4K ... 4k was the only thing I was really looking forward to concerning xOS14

IOS14 and updated YT app on iPhone XS -> 4K only for HDR videos (check "Peru" etc") here.

non-HDR videos are always maxed to 1080p.

on ATV 4K tvOS14 nothing at all

What the hell is going on ?
