The ethernet speed of the 3rd gen Apple TV 4k(2022) with tvOS 16.2 is limited to 100Mbps. I’m not sure if other peoples experience the same issue. I tested the cable and router with a laptop but all work fine except for the Apple TV. I remember it supported 1Gbps when I got it a month ago.

Definitely gigabit.

I thought the same thing until I realized the default Speedtest server (fastest ping near me I suppose) was limited to only 100Mbps. 🤦‍♂️

Switched to a different server and it's over 950Mbps.

Here same ATV on 16.2 it's fine, pretty much saturating the ethernet at ~940Mb/s both locally (Infuse) and on the Speedtest.net app with my gigabit internet.

The switching hub lits only 100Mbps LED. It looks like hardware failure. I made a genius bar reservation tomorrow.

Edit: power cycling solved the issue. Rebooting didn’t work but physical power disconnect and reconnect solved it.

I don’t ever recall it being a changeable option within the ATV app, for me at least Up Next has always shown a screenshot of the next episode/movie regardless of the setting used.
It’s only ever changed the behaviour of the Home Screen on both my Apple TVs.

It’s been changeable for a very long time. You could either have the top banner show the selected “up next” show or you could have it be a list of “to watch” content. Now “up next” doesn’t show a banner. Just the thumbnail list. It’s lame. Apple pressing their content on you even more aggressively than ever.

Just checked the specs page and you're right - it's supposed to be 1000Mbps. AFAIK all the previous models were 100Mpbs.

tvOS 16.2 adds support for Apple Music Sing, the new karaoke feature designed to let Apple Music subscribers with an Apple TV sing along to their favorite songs, solo or in duets. Apple Music Sing is compatible with the third-generation Apple TV 4K, which is the newest model.
Sing works on the second gen Apple TV 4K as well. Just tested it

You get half the experience. It had the lyric tracking but not the volume

Restart your switch. I've had cases where my UniFi ports sometimes only operate at 100 Mbps. A restart will fix it.

Does it really? For me it only works when AirPlaying to it. The native tvOS Music app doesn’t show the Sing button for me. I’m on tvOS 16.2, too.
I went to the sing section under browse and it was following along Beastie Boys Sabotage just fine. My model is A2169

Despite the downgrade to the TV app, I have to say they finally seem to have worked out a lot of the kinks. Doesn’t feel so buggy now especially on iPhone.

I don't like the new promos on top of the up next. I should have the option of showing the show that is the most recent up next instead of what they want me to see. Seems like an unnecessary change.

See but what’s really important here is engagement. Gotta get you watching Apple TV+. Did you know about Apple TV+? You’re gonna know about Apple TV+. Tim thinks you’re gonna love Apple TV+.

The TV App is buggy and kinda sucks now on the ATV, which is where it should work the best. Lameness, Apple.
The WORST thing about tvOS 16.2 is the new Home update. It's incredibly frustrating. My HomeKit door locks operate over Bluetooth to the Apple TV (the hub) and thus this Apple TV is my gateway to the outside for my locks. With this new update and the subsequent Home "improvements" there's no longer any option to select which device you want to be the hub. And, of course, Apple decided my other Apple TV up in the bedroom, two floors up from my door locks, should be the home hub, so I've no way to connect to my door locks remotely anymore. So, so, so frustrating. Why did Apple remove the option to set which Apple device is the Home hub?

Did they ever have the option? Mine do the same thing. Three wired Apple TVs and it usually selects the furthest away HomePod Mini.

Apple is on a very bad trend lately of completely removing all user choice. It's not like they were really known for that to begin with, but they've removed what little there was. They keep adding things we don't want with no option to change or turn them off.

Yes, prior to the Home update you could specifically select which device was the Home hub.

The automatic switching of hubs is super annoying. Is the option to turn off hub services on specific ATVs removed? I hadn’t noticed that. Not good. My HomeKit has the same issue. Only one of my ATVs is correctly positioned to act as a reliable home hub. If it switches to one of the others the whole system becomes unreliable.

You still can if you dont upgrade to the new home architecture. Its optional. In fact, is a manual process.

Yes, the option to turn off hub services is gone. All I can say is... best of luck. I've temporarily solved this (maybe?) but unplugging every other Apple TV in the house (including the one Apple assigned as the hub), leaving just the one I want to be the home hub. HomeKit then assigned that one as the hub. I plugged in the other Apple TVs and it has not switched to any of those, thankfully. If it stays this way, I can live with that, even if it's silly I can't manually assign...

OK, can you help me travel back in time to undo this? Because Apple never said this would happen, and I've no way back. It's a BS change without warning.

Really do not like the new "up next" view as of tvOS 16. I preferred the old way (though I wish it wouldn't do it at all) of showing the next episode in a small window, instead of minimizing the *still playing* episode to show me a giant still of the next one. Baffling regression, and there's no option to turn it off.

Now this update says it comes with up next "recommendations." I don't suppose anyone knows yet if this can be turned off.

It seems like Apple completely forgot that they actually *sell* tv shows and movies. The only thing I watch in the Apple TV app is purchased TV shows and movies, and they keep making the experience worse.

Edit: yeah that giant unremovable banner at the top, another huge one in the middle, ads all over the place.

There is exactly one tiny row (it has been made smaller) of what I actually want to “watch now” and the rest of the entire page is an animated banner ad. What the hell is going on at Apple right now? They’ve turned the deceptive design advertisers loose.
I actually shut off auto-update on my Apple TV before it updated itself to 16.2 -- because this all sounds really ****ty. I'll update eventually if there's some feature I can't live without or something breaks.

Sad thing is 16.2 is clearly a major bug fix release. And I have a feeling they could have done a bug fix sooner but saved it all for the 16.2 branch. Ugh.
