My aTV 4k (1st gen) is not grabbing the upgrade. My gen3 did no problem. I've rebooted and even tried using the hotspot off my phone. Each time I attempt to update it tells me that there are no updates (16.6 is currently installed). Has this happened to anyone else?

Finally, a sleep timer on the ATV. 👍

But, tvOS 17 also brought some not so great changes:

App icons have become smaller, 6 apps in a row and with that the screen becomes more cluttered IMHO. It would be a welcome option to have choice how many apps can be shown in a row. For some just 4 or 5 is enough.

The looks of the control menu is out of balance; a very small selection bar and submenu is big again. This probably looks great on wall filling 8K TV, but not on a 42inch 4K TV.

Now it also takes more clicks just to turn the ATV off or change the user profile.
And why the (useless) "ethernet" button?

It's been a few hours give it time :) I'm looking forward to seeing apps soon too!
tvOS 17 (Beta 1) was released in June. They could've had their hands on by then.
Anyways, I am really looking forward to it knowing they are currently working on it 😃

So wait let me get this straight, they're releasing iOS 17 for my Apple TV HD released in 2015 and yet my iPhone 8 Plus released in 2017 and my gf iPhone SE released in 2016 does not get an update?
Come on man!😝
It’s because tvOS works in a more simplified way than iOS on iPhone. As they receive more A.I functions and improvements such as interactive widgets and others, it compromises devices with chipset A11 and below. That’s why iPhone XR and newer devices are supported.

I have added several user profiles based on my accounts of iTunes Store from several countries. How do I get control center to show the user profile icons? I only get the placeholder icon with the account name initials…

I can’t get the “Siri Enhancements” to work.

Under “What’s New”, it mentions Siri can now answer general knowledge questions like “Is corn a fruit?”.

Except, when I ask “Is corn a fruit?”, I get “Sorry, I can’t help you search for that here.”

Confirmed this now works. Must’ve been a server side change by Apple.

I don't like tvOS 17. The app icons are smaller and the new control center is way too small. My display hasn't grown. I restored my AppleTV with tvOS 16.6.

Big mistake updating to 17. Have zero need of the new features. Wish I had read some of the posts here first. Like AlixSPQR, app icons too small + some other annoyances, I want to downgrade to the 16.6.

-Currently downloading the AppleTV5,3_16.6_20M73_Restore.ipsw Apparently still signed.

-On a Mac, running High Sierra, with iTunes (although I can, with a bit of effort boot to my Catalina partition - Patcher) what is the best way to downgrade?

-How to save apps for reinstall - if needed? Would prefer not to have to go back to square 1.

-Apple TV HD
