So this new update worth anything? What's it do that is so important (serious question). Something people can't live without?

I'm still wondering. My iPad Pro works fine without the update. ::shrug::

I'd love to know what the root of the problem was. I updated my 9.7 Pro the first time around, without a problem. I didn't do it OTA, I did it by wire.

Why only this one device, and what exactly was getting stuck?

You do realize that those two situations aren't contradictory, right? With the number of devices out there, each configured differently, it's quite possible for there to be a problem that millions of users don't encounter but which Apple still needs to address.

That's the challenge in testing stuff like this-- there is no way to test all the scenarios.

I hadn't seen anyone say "it must be you" to someone who had their device bricked, I suspect you're adding that bit for color.
No. There are three options;
  1. It must be you…….
  2. It must be the hardware…..
  3. It must be the software…….
The point that I’m sure you saw is that they deny there is a problem with the device and then never acknowledge the subsequent fix.

Yes it's worth it - I just managed to update my bricked 9.7 via iTunes update (had the issues mentioned in the apple guidance document - unplug, plug in and restore). The restore wiped the iPad but at least it's working now...

Those aren't discrete options, so if you think they are you're misinterpreting what people are saying.

I have an iPP 9.7, and it updated fine. I'm not magic. If you say that yours bricked, and I say mine updated just fine that is not me saying that you must be the problem. There are interactions between the hardware, software and, yes, the user that can lead to very different results on very similar platforms. It could be configuration, it could be bad timing, it could be the update method, a race condition, a gazillion things.

If I then go further and ask what you did, and suggest you do something different, I'm also not saying that you are the problem. I'm simply trying to help you diagnose the issue and maybe find a work around.

If your general outlook is that Apple is on the precipice of doom and everyone around you is a fanboy shilling for a dying company out of blind allegiance, then you're not going to be predisposed to misunderstanding the communication because you're misunderstanding the context. If you expose that outlook in your posts, then you're going to get pushback against that view that is entirely separate from the problem at hand.

(I'm referring to 'you' and 'me' in a generic sense, obviously)

If 999 people came into the forums saying everything went fine, and one person says their iPad bricked, and if the forums are representative users at large, then it will look like everyone is piling on the unfortunate soul when in reality it means that there are thousands of devices failing out there. Both situations are simultaneously true: the vast majority had no problem, and there are an unacceptable number of failures.

Hi:

I have a problem with 9.3.2 (updated yesterday) in my 9.7 ipad Pro.

The keyboard....

When typing characters, the keyboard does not show the keys. The character is typed but the keys do not show the relief.

This does not happen with other keyboards. where all works OK.

Some of you have these problems?
JP

Just updated now... using iTunes
No problems, so far. ran it through some basic paces and no issues :)
IPP 256GB wi-fi

Other than it being odd to see a message saying new update 9.3.2 available when I was already running the first iteration without problem, iPad Pro 9.7" 256GB WiFi updated to this new version without any issues either.

Updated but not without headaches.

When the first (broken) iOS 9.3.2 update was pushed, I didn't install it, and made sure to delete the download after Apple pulled the update, so it won't install accidentally.

When the second (fixed) iOS 9.3.2 update was pushed, it tried to install itself (even though when prompted I said I do not wish to install it at this time). Woke up the next morning to notice the iPad Pro was stuck with the message "Verifying Update". I couldn't bypass that message nor could I do anything, that's the first time it ever happen to me and I've owned 3 iPads. I hooked up the iPad Pro to my MacBook and noticed I could still connect to it with iTunes. I did a quick backup and afterwards removed the cable and did a hard reset on the iPad. The hard reset removed the "Verifying Update". Afterwards I did an OTA update and it went fine. Pheww.

This one is an iPad Pro 9.7 Celluar 256GB, bought in the EU.

I've got my fingers crossed... I just launched the update OTA. Hope all goes well because we don't have any Apple Store in my country.

edit: update was successful :):):)

Brand new iPad Pro 9.7, updated to 9.3.2 via iTunes and I had a nightmare. Error messages 4005 on initial update, and on first attempt to update the software, and when that failed error 21 on trying to restore.

Eventually it did accept an update and 9.3.2 was installed. Pro 9.7 is working fine now but it's made me very wary of updates from Apple tbh.
