I don't think this is a bug, and it existed in the awkward press and switch mode, too. When pressed, the clock face also switched to 10:09 until you pressed again. The reason is explained in https://www.businessinsider.com/why-apple-watches-all-display-1009-in-advertisments-2015-3 Other watch makers also set the watches to similar times, so that the entire watch face (including numerals) can be seen. Most set it to 10:10.
It wasn’t like this before. It basically seamlessly let you switch without any strange watch hand movements.

It has nothing to do with this clock historic fact that most people know.

It is a problem with watchOS 10.2. They first removed the watch face swipe that worked perfectly fine and smooth.
Now 10.2 reintroduces the feature (yay!), but with a very disrupting and jerky animation every time you swipe (only AFTER the swipe is complete).

From a developer’s perspective, it looks like they changed the whole watch initialization code with os 10, whereas in previous versions they kept the other faces ready in the background. Maybe they needed to free up resources and only have one watchface at a time in memory. Therefore the development team had to remove the swipe between wachtes, because they couldn’t provide the smooth transition anymore that we had in watchOS 9.

Now too many people complained, so we have the option to swipe again for those long term owners who are used to it (like me). But Apple is not really proud of the disrupting animation so they hid the option far away in settings 😄

Brightness in a dark room is a lot better for me. Still not where I'd want it, I have to wake the watch to read it easily, but better. A minimum watch brightness setting would really be nice...

I'm glad they have brought back the ability to swipe left and right on the watch faced to change them. Perhaps in the minority here, but I actually prefer the method that was introduced with iOS 17. I have lost count of how many times I inadvertently changed the watch face with iOS 16 and earlier.
I'm sort of in the same boat, i have a few watch faces set up but mainly use two...one for work and one for out of work and they switch automatically based on a shortcut automation i've got set up. The other ones i dont use very often so doing it the newer way is no big deal for me. However i did used to end up on random faces where it swiped when i caught it without me realising so the new way works fine for me.

Chill, it’s an option you can turn on or off in settings. Options aren’t something to complain about. Let’s be happy it’s not just another mandatory change for everyone because someone in the dev team wanted it because themselves like it is soo often with apple.
I guess you didn't read or understand, watchOS 10 introduced that you had to confirm ending a workout, 10.2 makes it optional again, a feature reversal, just like swiping to change watch faces

Yes, this was in the beta too. I reported it. Please also report it and hopefully it will get some visibility.

Not in the UK it doesn’t.
This feature is limited by language at the present time - go to Siri settings and change the language to English (US), English (Canada) didn't work for me for instance. You probably have already made the correct changes to your settings, but just on the off chance that you haven't, one needs to allow Siri to access health data before using the feature. On iPhone, go to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Siri, and toggle on “Access Health Data.” On Apple Watch, open Settings > Health > Apps and Services > Siri, and toggle on “Allow Siri Access to Health Data.”
Then wait 10-15 minutes after you change your settings - I think it needs a bit of time to populate. Initially I had the I thought it didn't work, but after checking my settings and waiting a while it did. It displays the data, but doesn't read it out loud. Hoping they change that, since we're using voice to access it. Hope that helps.

Well aware of that, I also posted that in this thread stating that if Macrumours had bothered to read the information on the link they posted they would see that it was limited to only American English and Chinese.
Changing the language is *not* a suitable solution.

I believe the 10:09 watch face bug (when you swipe) started with 10.2 beta 2 or beta 3. Can't remember. I noticed it right away. It was NOT present before at all at any time since it was introduced forever ago. Once they removed the swipe feature, enough people complained, so they slowly brought it back and clearly there is a coding bug. I see it with every single face I have. A quick 10:09 on the watch dials/digital numbers, then it glitches back to the regular time as it should... Hope they can knock out a fix with 10.2.1 so we don't have to wait for 10.3 or later...

Please anyone, is there any way to turn this off? It's super annoying.
