Having used it for a couple weeks, mostly good changes in this release with the exception of the Stopwatch app (solid white BG is an odd choice) and the Timers app/complication is worse in ways that make me irrationally sad.

Also while the Weather app is much richer and prettier looking, it's a lot more fiddly and modal, so it requires more view switching to get all the info you want. IMO a watch app should be optimized for quicker interactions, and the Weather app is not.

I am going to guess that there is still no user control for the ambient light sensor, meaning there is no way to turn it off. Is that correct?

The RC version was 21R356. What’s the version of this one?

EDIT: nevermind I’ve seen on the article it’s the same as the RC…

Really digging this update, and I was very happy to see that the Ultra 1 got that new watch face. It's soooo much better.

Call me koo-koo, but I still like my ancient iPhone X (works fine for me, size, screen etc). But apparently now I can’t update my watch S8 because I need ios17 (which no works on iPhone X). Anyone know of another method to update watch?

It's not possible I'm afraid! you need iOS 17 for watchOS 10.

Some things I've noticed that is pleasantly surprising. They've updated some of the complications to look better.

I use the wind complication and it now uses an arrow with the speed in the center. Looks much nicer.

One bad thing I hope gets resolved quickly is the sunrise/sunset wont display.

Maybe a reboot will solve it though.

I'm trying to install this update but it's taking a long time. I hate watch updates. It's 2023 and there isn't an alternative way to install watch updates? Apple should "innovate" a way.
go to the Settings app on your watch (not the watch app on the iPhone) and initiate update from there

Isn't IOS 17 supposed to be compatible with the XR and XS?

🥹 ’Apple Tax’ sneaks in again, dang.
well, to be fair, every new watchOS has always required the new iOS ...
as I have 3 AWs I would have loved to install the beta on one of them, but not without iOS beta and that was/is a no no for me
