That's what I keep hearing about the S2, is the poor battery life. That was the one thing that kept me from upgrading. I know the battery is larger in the S2, but with the screen brightness and GPS, its equivalent to the first Gen Apple Watch.

I have had the complete opposite experience. The series 2 battery life has been tremendous. It has been much better (like twice as good or more as series 1 on Watch OS 3).

That is with the same exact use case - which includes 30-40 minutes of workout a day.

I don't get what some of you guys are doing with your watches - I've had a S0 for around a year before upgrading and damn this battery in my S2 is amazing! Days with a trip to the gym or a run without my phone is still around 50% at night and days with no workout is around 70% remaining battery - never got near that with my S0
Same here. My battery life with my S2 is great. So much better than with my S0. My percentages are about the same as yours: 70% at bedtime with no workout less 20%/hr running with GPS playing music to wireless BT headphones.

Agreed, same here. I have all the bells and whistles turned on, I do 1-2 hours of cardio a day, typically half of it using GPS. I've yet to ever go to bed with the battery below 30%.
I also have screen on max brightness and nothing turned off. I might not use 3rd party very much at all but still..

I personally don't own Series 2. I kept my
Stainless Gen 1, being Gen 2 to me, wasn't worth the price tag for GPS and water resistance. Even the S2 processor and added screen brightness was not enough. I felt overall I would be spending $600.00 for the same Watch. I'm personally waiting for a redesign and hoping for some further innovation.

Back on topic, from the articles I have read and individuals I have spoken with, including other forum members, it seems to me the general complaint with Series 2, lies with the battery life. I have no idea if Watch OS3 Is a factor or other concerns. One forum member (@jonnysods) mentioned he only uses his Series 2 for notifications primarily and his Watch suffers with battery life. It sounds as if Series 2 is a mixed review with either love it or dislike it.

As I mentioned to another forum member,
I actually own the Gen 1 stainless, being Series 2 offered nothing to me in terms in upgrading and I'm not interested in purchasing the same Watch, that physically looks the same over again. And my Gen 1 Stainless has excellent battery life and I minimize the brightness, haptic feedback and turn off Hey Siri.

But, from the postings I have read on here, the consensus seems forum members seem displeased with the battery life on many levels.

Part of me wonders if it was the big rush of demand for parts, perhaps some battery batches are better than others? Because right now I'm almost begging for an incident/issue so I can use AppleCare and get a new watch!

Any thing is possible. You could contact Apple and see if they would offer you a replacement Watch, being the issues your experiencing. And you just purchased it a month ago. I'm Glad I kept my Stainless Gen 1.

Not giving me the option to update to 3.1 Says 3.0 is up to date. Hmmmm.

Update: Had to reboot the Watch in order for the iPhone to realize it needed the update. Weird.
Thank you so much for this tip, it was so frustrating. After rebooting my watch (& iPhone), this worked like a charm!

Updated yesterday, put watch (S2 stainless) on around 9:30am this morning, as of now (7pm), it has 86% charge. So not too shabby, although I didn't get in a workout today (usually 45 minutes).

My god, although the change log says it's fixed, the automatic unlocking with Watch is an even worse feature than AirDrop.

It works. Then it doesn't. Then it works again. Then it disables itself. Then I need to google how to fix it. And the whole internet is abound with advice like "hey have you tried restarting your $500 watch multiple times?"

Still a beta product...

Two days later, I still can't install 3.1. I get a message that I have the most recent version. I even got rid of the beta profile for the watch on my phone.

As others have mentioned, amazed at the improvements in battery life. 30-40% additional battery life from one charge. With no workout session, I could easily get through 2 days of usage.

You don't have your watch on mute?
No. I am very picky about the notifications I receive. I don't need or want to mute them. The unlock notification is the only one that Apple give me no control over, other than canceling the feature all together.

Is it loud? I only use haptic so the minor vibration doesn't bother me at all and works like a charm. Others say they have had problems with the unlock.
The unlock notification is loud because I have my volume up loud to properly hear the other things that my watch does. I understand why Apple want to send a notification when your Mac unlocks via Apple Watch, but there is no reason why it has to be audible, or why it has to be the ear piercing "ding" sound. Other than that, the feature had always worked well for me.

just wonder.. what is your battery drop rate looking like?

AW2 Nike+ and it seems dropping battery level 1%/hr. It was holding up 0% drop for the first 2 hours.

does it seem normal or should I worry about any battery hardware issue?

When I first got the battery, I could not even turn it on. I had to charge it for 30 mins before I could turn it on. I thought apple ships out all their devices at least charged 75-80% of the battery before they were shipped o
