considering Apple is trying to beef up their services segment, every upgrade point is a risk of losing a customer to a competitor and therefore a potential loss of a services customer.Common practise for forced upgrades. Every update slows down the device to a point where a user gets triggered to upgrade. If the upgrade curve does not go as planned, they introduce updates that remove, decrease or distort hardware functionality. (Airpods Max ANC, iPhone camera improvements on last gen iPhones and green tint lcd on devices. Just to bame a few.
Noticed you are stating your claims a fact, not opinion. That should open you to libel and slander charges if Apple’s lawyers take note.Common practise for forced upgrades. You can tell already even though the watch is using more resources than usual, post update? If there is a watch app that gives you this data so quickly please let us know. This update has knocked the heck out of battery life on my Series 8. Can almost watch the battery ring spin down.
Yep, looks like they fixed the volume issue. crown once again controls the volume.I hope they fix the volume control in the now playing app.
They fixed the auto launch audio app, but broke the volume in the last release.
The test will be whether it works over time. I've found it works after a watch restart or force quitting the app, but soon the problem comes back.Yep, looks like they fixed the volume issue. crown once again controls the volume.
Thanks! Now I know. 👍![]()

Agree. Additionally, I can update my iPhone and MacBook via mobile data but have to use WiFi for the watch which isn’t always convenient.I really wish these minor updates would not require a charger being attached...
This. I’ve always wondered this ever since the original Apple Watch.View attachment 2209809For f sake… please make it so that the watch hands stop covering up the complications. The hand should go opaque or something… or just let me shut off the watch hands. I can’t be the only one who like digital time. How stupid is it that I can’t even see how much time is left on my timer in the attached example.
Yes, I reported this to Apple multiple times.

50% on a MacBook is way more mAh in reserve than 50% of a Apple Watch Battery…That’s definitely why, but they will let iPhones, iPads, and Macs update on battery as long as it’s above 50%. And they already have the above 50% requirement, it seems excessive that that’s in addition to requiring the charger.
I know this is a joke… but also not. LmaoJust wait, the Apple Car will require the same. Must be at least 50% charged and on the charger.![]()

Maybe they have insider info on updates going $paid soonHave watchOS updates ever not been free?
Yeah. They say that every time. Just to be absolutely clear, I suppose.Have watchOS updates ever not been free?
Many, many years ago, on looking at some watch with complications that were hidden by hands, it triggered something. It's meant to be life-like! My analog watch does the same thing — both minute and hour hands cover the date window!![]()
Agreed. The requirement to be connected to a charger, and at 50%+ battery, to update feels very, very outdated. I've never installed a watch update that used up more than a few % of battery power.I really wish these minor updates would not require a charger being attached...
