If you have been experiencing issues with wireless CarPlay in your vehicle lately, it was likely due to a software bug that has now been fixed.

Apple released iOS 18.4.1 today, and the update's release notes say it "addresses a rare issue that prevents wireless CarPlay connection in certain vehicles."

If wireless CarPlay was acting up for you, updating your iPhone to iOS 18.4.1 should help.

iOS 18.4.1 also includes other bug fixes and security updates.

To update your iPhone, open the Settings app and tap on General → Software Update.

Add in GM, I've been having issues with it not wanting to connect since the 18.4 update. Rebooting the phone always restored the connection.

I take back all the mean things I said about my car (a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq) now that I know it's Apple's fault. 😄

Wireless CarPlay has been very unstable since 18.4 on my Ford Lightning. Hoping this will fix the crackling audio, audio drop out, and other performance issues specifically with Ford's Sync system. I have all of the vehicle manufacturers TSB's applied that were supposed to fix this but they have not.

And what about wired CarPlay? iOS 18.4 was said to be affecting it too.

Article, for reference: “The glitch appears to be popping up across a range of auto makes and models with both wired and wireless CarPlay connections”

So I would assume Acura as well, where did you find this? CarPlay in our 2024 MDX has been weird.

It would be nice if Apple created their own wireless CarPlay adapter (for cars that only have USB CarPlay) so that we wouldn’t have to rely on unreputable third-party companies to create them
I hear what you are saying (also I think there is no chance of that) - but after several years of trying and disappointing results, I recently bought this and am using it in my 2017 Accord and it has been really excellent.

I wonder if those adapters actually turned the corner!

I was having trouble with wireless CarPlay the other night on my usually very reliable aftermarket screen. I toggled the screen off and on a couple times, but it just wouldn't connect.

As it turned out, I had just been using my phone as a hotspot for my MacBook and it was still connected. The hotspot function disables wifi connections (which is what CarPlay needs). So, I disabled hotspot and the connection to the CarPlay screen fired right back up.

Not related to this bug, but something to be aware of if you use mobile hotspot regularly.

Just buy an after-market CarPlay monitor dude
2016 4Runner here … head unit swap … plenty of nice look (integration wise) Wireless HU available … thought they appear to all run android auto as the base OS (CarPlay can be configured to be the default app at startup time though)

Very affordable option

My CarPlay connects fine, but there are intermittent quick blips where the music cuts for a half a second then resumes. This only became an issue after the last iOS update, so not sure if it's my iPhone. '24 Jeep Wrangler High Altitude 4xe.

Hope, that they fixed this problem too: when you lock your device and it is idle for some time, notifications from WhatsApp, Telegram doesn't come. Only if you go to the app.
