Now fix that thing where you have directions on the screen a call comes in and now a massive useless call interface has taken over the screen. I don’t think it’s necessary instead just do that split screen option when a call comes in while maps is displayed
What’s sad is I bought two of the wireless ones and they were dropping like crazy!! My phone calls, music and I just ended up returning them both. They were great when they did work. Didn’t know if it was the component so that’s why I returned them. Now to see if was a software issue.. smh

My CarPlay connects fine, but there are intermittent quick blips where the music cuts for a half a second then resumes. This only became an issue after the last iOS update, so not sure if it's my iPhone. '24 Jeep Wrangler High Altitude 4xe.
This is always my experience (using a third-party screen). Connecting to wireless is never an issue.

I have a Kenwood (aftermarket) head unit since 2020 and it’s always been great (use it wireless 100% of the time). But I will still upgrade 😀

I have had a few drops in Wireless CarPlay in our Subaru Outback. I was wondering what is up... (will update).
Wait-what?!

I have a 2020 Outback Legacy - I've been plugging my phone in for 5 years - didn't know it supported wireless Carplay...

Finally! I've got issues with my Mercedes for over a month now. Calls dropping mostly (Carplay disconnects and reconnects multiple times).

I wonder if this fix will also affect my carpure CarPlay display unit that I have stuck on my dashboard. For the last few months the bluetooth connection has been absolute **** when trying to connect to the unit.

Always feel better about a dot one update 😛📱
Just updated.

I never had any issues on my 2025 Ford Escape Active but glad it is fixed for those who did.

Dang, now my Apple CarPlay doesn't even connect at all. I see a spinning wheel, then the connection just drops. Tried several times on my aftermarket CarPlay dongle thingy.

Since 18.4, my CarPlay issues have occurred on both wireless and wired connections. I have had wireless connection issues, but the biggest has been while on a phone call—the connection will randomly drop and then re-connect. I tried connecting it with a wired connection and had the same issue, which made me believe this was a 18.4 issue. Multiple phone reboots and Infotainment system reboots haven't resolved it.

Hopefully, this will resolve it. I will see today.

Wireless Carplay is not always the best choice. Best would to be able to choose between wired and wireless on the go. The Car should support both. For example if more than one person drive the same car and all are in the car. Or on longer trips. My car has connection errors when i leave the car more than three times on a longer trips. A cableis not the worst solution.
For short trips, wireless is amazing

Just updated, and I am still having the same issues with a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. CarPlay worked fine until version 18.4, and it also worked fine in the loaner 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee I had for a few days. My wife's phone also works fine on our Jeep with wireless, and she has the same phone (iPhone 16 Pro) and same software (18.4). This is just frustrating, weird, and totally unacceptable.

Since IOS 18 carplay has been a disaster, reboots, audio issues, random lag when tryingto navigate. It's def not my car, works perfectly for anything other than 18.x.
Let's hope this update fixes it, cos I think we are all getting sick and tired of Apple's general problem with their continued lack of QE/QA....

Not a fix for my 7" Carplay Screen.
Updated to 18.4.1 ... Carplay still starts normal upon starting the vehicle and then quits after 30, 60, 90 secs for unknown reasons.

I did find that the following sequence fix the carplay reboots, even the one where the first phone call would always disconnect...
From the car interface - unpair and delete any phones and remove any remaining data
From the phone - remove car from carplay and then remove car from bluetooth devices - reboot phone
Then restart your car, to reboot the headunit
Pair phone to car/carplay using normal proceedure for your vehicle
This has stopped the reboots on mine and also on my wife's car.
Hope this help you too.
