Surprisingly, been perfectly fine with the aftermarket unit I have for my vehicle (namely this one) which has native wireless CarPlay

Still updating anyways as I'm on the dev beta track

Add in GM, I've been having issues with it not wanting to connect since the 18.4 update. Rebooting the phone always restored the connection.

I take back all the mean things I said about my car (a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq) now that I know it's Apple's fault. 😄
It is GM’s fault for not having CarPlay in the first place, :p.

For CarPlay

So far the list of vehicles I found are: multiple different automakers, including Honda, Mazda, Audi, and Ford
I've got an aftermarket Alpine headunit with native CarPlay you can add that to the list. Hopefully this fixes the glitchy audio as of late...

Just buy an after-market CarPlay monitor dude
Seriously. The one I have is actually a ton better than some of the built-in ones I've seen. I paid all of $250, and that was a splurge on a bright, responsive one with a good frame rate and wireless connectivity. The only challenge is finding a good spot to mount, depending on the configuration of your dashboard.

lately?

I've been having issues with it connecting reliably to my Nissan for 3 freaking years....enough to the point I never want the upgraded full-car CarPlay.

Thankfully Apple have acknowledged the bug and apparently fixed it.

I’ll update my phone tonight and try tomorrow in my Audi.

To be fair, wireless CarPlay was fine for me, before 18.4…

I am experiencing issues with CarPlay on iOS 18.4. Every notification from navigation apps (Waze, Google Maps) produces a persistent static noise while I’m listening to music on Apple Music. This problem occurs with the wireless CarPlay connection.

I have tried resetting network settings, re-pairing my device, and other troubleshooting steps, but the issue remains unresolved.

ANYONE?!

I guess it depends on the GM car. I had no issues with wireless CarPlay on 18.4 in my Bolt with two different iPhones.

This is why I was afraid to update to 18.4. I’m still 18.3.2 and haven’t had any issues with my wireless or wired CarPlay. Until this is resolved I’m staying on 18.3.2.

Didn't have any issues with wired CarPlay. I do wired, because Apple Music sounds better with a direct connection, vs. Bluetooth.
Wireless CarPlay creates a peer-to-peer WiFi network between the iPhone and car stereo/receiver. Bluetooth is used as the initial handshake, but then everything is WiFi, including audio streaming. Theoretically this WiFi connection would have more bandwidth than the USB 2.0 wired connection.

If you have been experiencing issues with wireless CarPlay in your vehicle lately, it was likely due to a software bug that has now been fixed.

Apple released iOS 18.4.1 today, and the update's release notes say it "addresses a rare issue that prevents wireless CarPlay connection in certain vehicles."

If wireless CarPlay was acting up for you, updating your iPhone to iOS 18.4.1 should help.

iOS 18.4.1 also includes other bug fixes and security updates.

To update your iPhone, open the Settings app and tap on General → Software Update.

Now fix that thing where you have directions on the screen a call comes in and now a massive useless call interface has taken over the screen. I don’t think it’s necessary instead just do that split screen option when a call comes in while maps is displayed

Wireless CarPlay has been very unstable since 18.4 on my Ford Lightning. Hoping this will fix the crackling audio, audio drop out, and other performance issues specifically with Ford's Sync system. I have all of the vehicle manufacturers TSB's applied that were supposed to fix this but they have not.
I’ll reply to my reply and say a resounding NO. Audio still breaks up and stutters horribly in my 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning with wireless CarPlay. So this “fix” did not seem to fix the issue at least for me.

I have had two wireless carplay adapters, connect & disconnect permanently, since 18.3 iirc to a '24 MB. Exhausting to try to to troubleshoot, shut down, restart, etc.

I am getting by with an older 7" carplay aftermarket screen, where it may drop the connection once, sometimes twice, within 30-60 secs after connecting; but I can just tap carplay on screen and it reconnects in a split second and then will be stable.

Hopefully this update will sort that out. 🤞

Havibg exactly that bug and hope it’s gone with update.

I’ve had problems with Car Play connectivity on a 2021 Nissan Rogue since the moment I installed 18.2.

This update still did NOT fix my problem.

Didn't have any issues with wired CarPlay. I do wired, because Apple Music sounds better with a direct connection, vs. Bluetooth.
My car requires both bluetooth and wifi to be on for carplay to connect.

Still broken. CarPlay doesn’t detect “hey siri”. Also voice commands doesn’t work as well.

I had and still had the very quick dropouts, but after the last update the Recently Played panel won't update on the display. The problem continues after today's new "CarPlay fix." The iPhone (16 Pro) itself updates its Recently Played but it's not updating on the car interface. Vehicle is a '24 Polestar. Anyone else have similar issues? Or better, a solution?

What about the widgets going white if using tinted icons only official ios app widgets work anymore (they used to work fine a few updates ago)
