If your wifi router has the 2.4g and 5g bands. For me it was when I am connected to the 5g band. its just spins and won't connect and drops out and connects to the slower 2.4g.
Oh, I see, thank you. My router does have 5G network but I have never used it and I think my phone doesn't recognize it but my laptop does.

Its time to upgrade to Xr

For some people, that is not an option. when anything bigger that an SE is too big to hold in one hand. I retired my SE just so I could keep a spare for the SO. When you are @ best buy and the SO just about drops a 7 because it doesnt fit right in the hand, no, its NOT time to buy a Xr

It’s showing up now
yes installing as I write this, while my issues were never as severe as some (2.4 was solid and all my iPhones tended to go to it if I were far away or coming back home, and LTE is weak in neighborhood on all phones (both Verizon and AT&T) calls made it). What I noticed mostly was the tendency more than ever on other phones of preferring my 2.4ghz band over 5 and the 5 not working well outside of house (it was weak there already on earlier phones). Will be interesting to see what this does.

wonder if peope that named the 2.4 and 5 wifi band had this problem ?

Nope. Wi-Fi has always been as fast as ever. I've found the SSID sharing between 2.4GHz and 5GHz rarely works like it should, not just with Apple devices but with anything. I think a lot of it depends on the router's firmware too.
