Man that 1 billion for Beats CAN’T have been worth it. Remains the weirdest thing Tim Cook’s Apple have done.
It was 3 bil, not 1...jesus. Why? SInce apple bought Beats...the audio for apple devices gone way up...the speakers of the Macbook pros are top notch, also the ipad pros has top notch speakers...and so on...
People think that people from beats worked only for "beats" headphones and not for the apple devices??? This is hilarious...even Phil talked about it after the beats purchased
I bet they are working on the homepod line up too...everything that has to do with audio at apple are coming from beats guys...that spacial audio i bet is from them

Although I’ll be interested to see if Powerbeats pro are kept on sale.

There’s been no rumour of an Apple sports over ear set (though with Apple Workouts on the way you’d have to imagine that they’ve been working on this...)

This. AirPods, AirPods Pro, and the rumored AirPods Studio aren't really geared toward a fitness market. The PowerBeats and PowerBeats Pro are designed for it. I wouldn't be surprised if these are kept around strictly for fitness and sports.

AirPods are a better brand, they are a great seller for Apple and have been ever since the first gen AirPods. Apple adding over the ear headphones will only increase their market share and appeal to more people (those who don't like in ear AirPods).

Let's not forget, there will be at least 2 different versions of the over ear AirPods Studios, a normal/sport version priced at $349 and a more luxury version priced at $599 according to leaks.

It seems this will be proper studio/producer headphones, so not headphones to listen to music but to produce it; they won't be bass-heave for sure, but they will probably be very neutral so not really suited for casual listening anyway.

Unless Apple’s headphones are wired, they won’t be proper studio/producer headphones.

Makes sense -- focusing on a simple line-up of Apple-branded audio devices.

Two versions of HomePod for home, two of over the ear headphones and then two models of AirPods. Lean and focused line-up.

Plus, Apple got everything they wanted from the deal -- foundations for their streaming service, back in 2015, engineering prowess (hence -- AirPods, better iPhone/iPad/MacBook/Apple Watch speakers) and an interim line-up of headphones they could market at the Apple Store as "theirs" in the meantime.

Nice and clean.

Ok I didn't realise that Apple are phasing out the Beats brand and products?? Is that what's happening?

For how they used it to leverage Apple Music (which surpassed Spotify in paying subscribers domestically) I'd say it was worth it. And it was pretty obvious that down the line they would slowly phase out the Beats product branding and conform a lot of it into Apple, while at the same time getting rid of the competition [when they bought them out].

It doesn't make sense to simply kill the Beats brand. AirPod Pro and Beats Pro Wireless work in different markets, and the headphone range is completely different from what Apple currently offers. I could see a separation of the brand and a possible sell, but just killing it completely would be foolish.

There has been. Apparently the AirPods Studio will come in two variants: sports (cheaper, around $300+ mark) and premium (more expensive, $599) as the rumour suggested. Makes sense to me.

They bought it, but I’m pretty sure they’ve made enough of return on investment that it’s not a loss...
I do think that Beats By Dre is to big of a brand to let go of though..

LOL. Yeah, they might try and market it that way, but Bluetooth headphones aren’t coming anywhere near a quality pair of Beyerdynamic or Sen’s.

Hopefully, they’re removing the beats links to just update the site around them and or to add the next gen of Beats in.

Fingers crossed but worst case, I would happily go for Airpod Studios.
I’d expect so. Beats are still number one in the headphone space. Not sure how many folks would prefer an Apple logo.
Most studios I've ever worked in use "industry standard" headphones e.g. ATH-M50x, MDR-7506, DT-100/150/990/770, HD25's on occasion and not much else really springs to mind.
Omg, I hope they don’t pick up “industry standard” naming :)

so wait, this all but confirms Airpods Studio *are* coming tomorrow yeah?

No way they’d retire this page now if they weren’t announcing til a separate November event...

No, they could announce them later this month. The AirPods Pro got that treatment last year, no event announcement or anything they were simply announced on the website via a press release.

We’ll have to wait to see if we get a “MY SOURCES AREN’T BACKING DOWN” post from Prosser... and then we still won’t know. :)
