i'm concerned about this only because the airpod studio rumors are just for over ear headphones.

i hate ear pdos and i hate over ear. give me on ear.

It was 3 bil, not 1...jesus. Why? SInce apple bought Beats...the audio for apple devices gone way up...the speakers of the Macbook pros are top notch, also the ipad pros has top notch speakers...and so on...
People think that people from beats worked only for "beats" headphones and not for the apple devices??? This is hilarious...even Phil talked about it after the beats purchased
I bet they are working on the homepod line up too...everything that has to do with audio at apple are coming from beats guys...that spacial audio i bet is from them

True. Apple's W1 chip is in some of the Beats products as well. At this point Beats it just a brand, everything else is Apple.

No, they could announce them later this month. The AirPods Pro got that treatment last year, no event announcement or anything they were simply announced on the website via a press release.

yeah that makes zero ****ing sense. why would they kill the page now?

Man that 1 billion for Beats CAN’T have been worth it. Remains the weirdest thing Tim Cook’s Apple have done.

it was absolutely worth it. The Beats brand had very high market exposure due to athletes and celebrities seen using them. This was free advertisement for Beats and Apple.
Apple actually bought beats for their streaming platform which differed from other with their human curators and live DJs.
Thinking of how Apple Music has grown in such a short time. It means Apple made that 1B back and more in short order.

Sounds like Apple again is hoping that we all Forgot About Dre.

Why would Apple even be bothered by that?

It's just a page, they haven't stopped selling Beats headphones, they are still on the site. They are probably just gearing up to the AirPods Studio.

I think it makes sense to dissolve the brand. I think it is time. I just hope they expand the AirPods like to have a form factor like the PowerBeats Pro - I personally have trouble with the AirPods and AirPods Pro of falling out of my ears. The hooks on the PowerBeats Pro are superior and I don’t worry about them falling out. Now we just need an updated AirPods Pro Sport edition with features of the AirPod Pros and the form factor of PowerBeat Pros. Or Apple can fix their damn AirPods to fit more ears. They claimed they studied this, but then why do my $10 JBL ear plugs fit perfectly?

Bluetooth headphones aren’t coming anywhere near a quality pair of Beyerdynamic or Sen’s.
Certainly NOTHING like these:
or these:

It was worth it multiple times over. Apple received (and continues to receive) all of the profits on Beats headphones from the point of purchase on, it acquired a streaming service that was the progenitor of Apple Music, it acquired audio and platform expertise, it acquired intellectual property, and it acquired Beats loyalists as customers. As corporate acquisitions go, it was a particularly successful one.

Been hoping we will see a new Beats Pro with updated tech, and notably usb-c charging, and ideally under the AirPod branding such as maybe AirPod Sport or something. The Beats Pro are the only apple headphones that will stay in my ears, so can't do the AirPods Pro which I certainly would otherwise (not to mention certainly don't want white earbuds.

While no rumors on update power beats pro, he's for hoping...

I kinda sense monopolistic behaviour in slowly snuffing out a popular (rival) brand but that's just me.

It’s totally fine to rid your retail stores of competing products that will attract some customers. It’s not as if they disappear elsewhere so the effects only apply to Apple Stores.

It seems this will be proper studio/producer headphones, so not headphones to listen to music but to produce it; they won't be bass-heave for sure, but they will probably be very neutral so not really suited for casual listening anyway.

What brings you to this conclusion?

Apple killed many successful brands before. Remember "Powerbook" and "Powermac"?

True, and yet:
- Beats is known as an Apple brand since 2014. I'd expect Apple to allow the Beats brand to exist on a limited capacity, not kill it entirely
- It's normal to make tactical acquisitions and gradually phase out the acquired brand. What's head-turning in this case is the size and mass appeal of the brand in question
- When it comes to Apple stores, what is rather non-competitive behaviour was to oust Sonos, B&W, Bose etc before the event

Apple killed many successful brands before. Remember "Powerbook" and "Powermac"?

These were part of Apple's naming convention at the time, not different brands.

Beats1 became Apple Music, so I think it was worth it. Plus all the money they made from Beats headphones over the years.

Man, if they discard the Beats label, style and sound profile I'll be hard pressed to believe that the acquisition wasn't just to eliminate one of the most popular brands within the field while making their own brand via AirPods...

They got it to get into Music streaming, which arguably is a big success. Besides, the beats headphones were much more culturally relevant then than what they are now. In a way, the Airpods are the cultural equivalent to what the beats studios were back then.

That’s assuming beats had anything good sounding in the first place - which is the joke of the day. Bass-boost for the numb, that’s it.

And people said long time ago that water is wet...of course, in the future the Beats logo/brand will be gone

The option to phase beats out was often discussed. It’s certainly not the guy who thinks Steve Jobs memorial glasses are a thing who said it first.

Beats isn't going anywhere...if you are phasing out a company, you dont hand out millions in endorsements right before you do. Bubba Wallace just signed to Beats. And he just signed with Jordan for next year...so expect to see the Logo on a NASCAR hood next year. Its a (very) profitable entity on its own. It will continue to be. Apple is just shuffling things around visually and realigning its speaker strategy for retail.
