I would settle for 2 or 3 at a time... bummer its delayed. I remember when the iSight FireWire camera came out and that was able to do 3 on iChat app.

Kind of a bummer, as it's the only feature I am excited about. Hopefully later this fall means 1 month later, not 1 year.

How have we not started a betting pool of which features announced at WWDC won’t actually make it into the release within months and months of launch.

Funny thing this is such a bug fixing release, this was one of the few new features which required technical skills Of course it’s delayed.

Seems some want to see it released before it’s ready.

I think many people dislike the new “trend” where Apple continues to struggle releasing advertised features more than a complaint about not having group FT. A product not being ready on time has become the new Apple in many ways.

I recently started a position requiring regular conference calls, and I’m not sure 32 people FaceTime calls would cut it compared to the combination of Cisco Webex Meetings and AT&T VoIP that are used in our calls.

I don’t think anyone would get much done if they kept having the focus change from the main person’s video to one of the other people’s video on a regular basis. As with other posts here, most people were muted and there were only two people actually talking during the call. The rest of us were responding via text (that nobody could keep track of, as well over 100 people were on the call) when questions were asked of the group. Otherwise, it was basically a slide presentation with screen sharing. Nothing 32 person FaceTime calling would work for.

This is the only conference call setup I’ve been involved with other than old fashioned audio calls for training, so I’m not exactly an expert. Perhaps it would be useful for family/friend time or groups of researchers spread out in the field to actually show changes in real time? Something that WOULDN’T cause too much issue if video focus moved constantly, unless there were some of us with OCD, ADHD, or whatever. Then you’re just out of luck and had best not steal focus from ME! It’s all about ME, Frank! And you shut up too, Jane! /sarcasm

But I don’t think that’s the point, I think Group FaceTime should be released when it’s ready as a whole, because they promised said amount of people being able to use it. They shouldn’t have to make any compromises to reduce the amount users just because group FaceTime is not ready as of yet.

Also, I’m not sure about four being ‘95% of the people use group FaceTime’. For larger families and even companies really could take advantage of something like this.
I thought 95% was being generous. It's probably more like 98%, and I'm willing to bet that 50% will never use the group functionality. It's difficult enough to get someone on the line for FaceTime at a specific time, much less a whole group of people living busy lives. Also businesses, at least in my experience, tend to shy away from using core features of one OS and instead use something that is often crappy and multiplatform. No business is going to use FaceTime for large scale meetings when half the people at the company are on Android.

Man this completely sucks because I really need to talk to more than 30 people at a time dammit!

Another year of pathetic software from Apple. After decades of dedication I’m hanging up my fanboy hat.

Not sure what you consider pathetic now when compared to any other time in Apples history. I guess I just don’t get what people think Apple should be developing.

Maybe save this rant if it’s 6 months or a year later and we don’t have it yet.

I see no reason to give them a pass on pulling something from a release at the last minute that they announced on stage at WWDC. This is yet another delay that is emblematic of a growing problem with Apple’s ability to honor their own commitments.

If they don’t want people to complain about it, they shouldn’t make a big deal about it on stage and then bail on at the last minute. They need to do better. This problem has gotten worse over the past few years.

Apple, your reputation is getting worse and worse.

But it doesn't matter. Apple customers continue to buy the products regardless.

Look at their recent earnings. Profits went up but sales went down. Apple sold less stuff but their customers paid more for it. No wonder they hit $1tn. Who wouldn't invest in a company that has become a religion?

New features and stability are what I’m after. Loading apps ever so slightly faster isn’t gonna do it for me, so yeah I will continue to whine thanks.

iOS 12 betas have been pretty stable since day 1 and the OS is just slicker overall. Everyone has their wants and needs but 12 Is offering several great new features. Shortcuts being just one, but a great one so far.
