This is wrong no matter what your politics. The guarantee of free speech in the First Amendment isn't about speech you agree with, it's about the ability for others you don't agree with to speak. You aren't required to agree with what they say. And labeling opposition speech across the board as "hateful" is a straw dog. Also, the idea that these platforms are private doesn't wash when they hold a near-monopoly on communications (especially when they collaborate like Twitter, Apple, Google, and Facebook have done).

This is a very creepy place we are going into. The next step down the road is internet restriction and monitoring. And don't think for a moment if your politics are on the "good" side they won't come for you next. There were many in the French Revolution who thought the Jacobins would never come after them -- but after they ran out of their real enemies, they did.

Regardless how you feel about Trump, this is a scary place we're headed...
You literally don't know what you're talking about.

You seem to be in support of communism, where the government can tell private companies and individuals what to do with their property.

No, that is not our world, that is not what "free speech" even involves (try reading the 1st Amendment sometime). Apple is absolutely free to control their personal property how they want -- this is the American Way.

The left can tweet things like I hope trump dies and gets away with it but when the right tweet anything they get banned it’s not equal rights; apple has become woke like the rest of the company’s, they can’t silence the president of America it’s wrong

kids on Tik Tok made fun of the president, so Trump and conservatives wanted to ban it. But conservatives using an app to plot deadly attacks on American soil, they think it’s unfair to ask to moderate said criminal activites.
Well said! They are whiny, snowflake hypocrites through and through. Sometimes they get whipped up into a frenzy and try to stage a coup. Thankfully, they were too stupid and unplanned to pull it off. But we got lucky, this time. The next few weeks, and I'm afraid, years, will have to involve mopping up this garbage, and throwing it into a very deep pit, forever.

If Parler spreads hate so much why has there been no riots or anything from trump supporters in the 4 years and why when he lost did nothing happen and this was a one off which was bad, with the same logic your using they should ban twitter because it spread a lot of blm lies and hate that caused a summer of hell
Do your eyes work?

4 years of trump and zero riots and when trump lost there was peace no trump supporters done anything they didn’t riot or loot, but a few hours of madness and that’s it every trump supporter is the devil and should be banned, the left are hypocrites they same all this but they stayed quiet during the summer when the blm lot burnt cities to the group, I so done with this chat, go enjoy this because it’s gonna get worse

Disgusting work apple, why not remove twitter with people like the leader of Iran threatening to wipe israel off the map, all social media has bad on it, they really are banning all freedom of speech of any conservatives; all what is left is the radical left, it’s not healthy to only hear one side
There are so many Republican, Libertarian, and otherwise right-wing people on Twitter, myself included. It's not "hearing only one side."

Also, if Parler is an anything-goes platform, that conflicts with the App Store rules, and that's always been the case. I've had to abide by them when submitting my own apps.

So much for Apple's freedom of speech principles, only when it fits their agenda.
What a pithy quote that means absolutely nothing.

If you invite someone over to your house and they start getting mouthy and you kick their butt to the curb, you are taking advantage of our American values that preserve private property. You are not blocking freedom of speech. The idiot you kicked out can still rant -- somewhere else, but not on your property.

Proof? And did you report the offensive tweets to Twitter? Or did you just come here to complain?
Well, for starters, this guy still has a Twitter account.

While we're on the topic, can you provide proof of calls for violence on Parler? Or did you just come here to celebrate the suppression of ideas that run counter to your ideology?

You do not have a right to unlimited free speech. There are a hundred limits on speech, from copyright to sedition. People need to understand that, and Apple is well within their right to limit speech. Twitter did a great post analyzing his language and his incitement of insurrection, when they banned him.
The ACLU, no fan of Trump, disagrees.
I, for one, do not want Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, and Sundar Pichai to be the arbiters of what speech we are “allowed” to see.

Brandenburg vs. Ohio establishes a very high threshold for governmental banning of speech. As private companies, Apple, Twitter, etc. have more flexibility but they should exercise good judgment.

Twitter continuing to allow Ayatollah Khamenei to advocate the “extermination” of Israel, and the Chinese Foreign Minister to falsely claim Muslim Uighurs are better off in concentration camps is not a sign of good judgment. Apple giving Parler 1 day to implement unrealistic changes is not good judgment.

I dont live in the US so not associated with either side..But Twitter is used around the world to incite violence against governments, causing some of the most deadly conflicts we have seen.. How is this different?? To the rest of the world it just seems that Twitter management are just running an agenda.. They are literally attempting to control information. I guess thats why I have never really used Twitter.. Its just to much of a sewer..

Nothing wrong with censoring speech! In doing so, you teach people what is right and what is not! It also call political correct culture too. This is just the next level of applying this concept. I know it not applied equally but that is the way it goes. This country more then ever is now control by the liberal left progressive Socialist side of politics. Got to go with the flow and conform. I lived in third world countries before and that how you need to behave to survive.

It’s their platform. They can silence whoever they want, just like this site, my site or your site can. The president literally has a room in his house where the press will show up and cover anything he wants to say. Maybe he should use it for once.

Well said.

Sadly, it speaks to the state of "conservatism" in the USA today, when for the vast vast majority of people who claim to embrace it, it really just means white power fascism.

Thank you for standing up and reminding us that none of this garbage actually has anything to do with traditional, conservative values. It's a shame the party that used to be able to articulate them gave up on policies, literally got rid of their party platform, and replaced it with "Trump is our leader." This actually happened at the 2020 RNC. smh

They never had any free speech principles and never claimed to. These are their rules on content, which have been basically the same since the App Store was created.

1.1 Objectionable Content
Apps should not include content that is offensive, insensitive, upsetting, intended to disgust, in exceptionally poor taste, or just plain creepy. Examples of such content include:

    • 1.1.1 Defamatory, discriminatory, or mean-spirited content, including references or commentary about religion, race, sexual orientation, gender, national/ethnic origin, or other targeted groups, particularly if the app is likely to humiliate, intimidate, or harm a targeted individual or group. Professional political satirists and humorists are generally exempt from this requirement.
    • 1.1.2 Realistic portrayals of people or animals being killed, maimed, tortured, or abused, or content that encourages violence. “Enemies” within the context of a game cannot solely target a specific race, culture, real government, corporation, or any other real entity.
    • 1.1.3 Depictions that encourage illegal or reckless use of weapons and dangerous objects, or facilitate the purchase of firearms or ammunition.
    • 1.1.4 Overtly sexual or pornographic material, defined by Webster’s Dictionary as "explicit descriptions or displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings."
    • 1.1.5 Inflammatory religious commentary or inaccurate or misleading quotations of religious texts.
    • 1.1.6 False information and features, including inaccurate device data or trick/joke functionality, such as fake location trackers. Stating that the app is “for entertainment purposes” won’t overcome this guideline. Apps that enable anonymous or prank phone calls or SMS/MMS messaging will be rejected.
